We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michele Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michele below.
Michele , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I began my business in hopes of changing the way people were taught to take care of their hair. I wanted to teach my customers how to care for natural hair without being altered by relaxers, perms, chemical curls, and straighteners. I started giving out free samples to post-chemotherapy patients I received amazing hair growth journey updates. I was told by my customers that I had blessed hands. I decided to name my business Michele’s Blessed Hands
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I decided to formulate vegan, all-natural handcrafted hair growth products. I suffered from Lupus and Alopecia hair loss throughout my life. I started making my own handcrafted hair growth oils, hair pomades, shampoo bars, whipped body butter, yoni care, curl creams, and body soap.
I had regrowth within the first few weeks of using my products. I know that every person experiences hair loss differently. Hair loss can result in loss of self-esteem, depression, isolation, and much more. Michele’s Blessed Hands hair treatments have proven growth results. I made this my mission to ensure no one stands alone suffering from hair loss. I donate free hair growth products for those who suffer from severe trauma such as third-degree scalp burns, alopecia, and medical and chemo-related hair loss.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started giving out free products to my Instagram followers. I receive free hair journey updates and product reviews. I also had hair ambassadors who promoted my products and recommended our products to friends and other followers.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started my business with less than $20.00 I only sold carrot hair growth oil in the beginning. I now have over 90 hair growth oils, pomades, shampoo bars, and shea butters. I never needed business funding or loans.
