We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michele Lynch. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michele below.
Hi Michele, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I was a professional dancer and choreographer and I lived in NYC for over 20 years. I absolutely loved creating dances and telling stories through movement. Although I spent a lot of time on the road traveling—I was very fortunate to come home to my affordable Upper West Side brownstone apartment with my own washer/dryer.
One day my landlord announced that she was selling the building and I fell into despair. In order to find a similar apartment I would have to move far out of the city. Life as I knew it would never be the same. I couldn’t seem to find a solution in NY that made sense to me. My friends reminded me that when one door closes another one opens. At the time I had a hard time seeing a new door opening.
Later in the year during hurricane Sandy, I was talking on the phone with my sister who lives in sunny SoCal and I made the decision to move back home to Los Angeles.
I settled in Santa Monica and immediately my life turned around for the best. Living by the beach suited me greatly and my stress levels went way down.
I’d always been a spiritual seeker and in my new atmosphere I found myself hungry to learn more about spirituality and psychology.
Six months later, I enrolled in Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara.
The Depth Psychology Program with Somatic Studies turned out to be the perfect fit for me.
My fieldwork was in Dreams and my specialty was that I combined my dance and choreography background as a way to understand and work with Dreams.
The results I witnessed and experienced were instantaneous, transformative and healing. This inspired me to form my own company, Putting Dreams on your Feet.
My life as I knew it—was no longer the same.
I now work full-time as a Mind Body Healing Practitioner and I specialize in working with Dreams. I see clients at the beach, in person and over Zoom.
I can honestly report—I’m happier than I’ve ever been and my life is more suited to who I authentically am.
Moving out of NYC—changed the trajectory of my career.
I share my story as a reminder to anyone who might be facing an obstacle in their life.
What appears to be an obstacle—might actually be the Universe redirecting you to a better path.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Although my first career was as a Broadway and film dancer and choreographer—I haven’t left what I’ve learned as a dancer behind. I combine my dance experience with my new career as Mind Body Healing Practitioner.
I bring psychology, somatic (body) healing and spirituality into every session—mind, body and soul.
Because I’m able to read the subtle signals of the body, I’m able to navigate the unconscious self. The unconscious self holds all those parts of us that we have buried, ignored, denied or repressed. Those parts live in our body.
I teach clients to make sense of what they’re feeling and find pathways to move through the subtler realms of their unconscious self.
As one client said: “You teach me the language of my ‘self’ so I can have communication with it. You teach me how to deepen my relationship with my ‘self’, make sense of it and hear the message.”
One of the most unique things I offer—is my way of working with Dreams. My method of Putting Dreams on Your Feet allows you to experience your Dreams without your ego or limited thinking getting in the way. Rather than analyzing your Dream through your mind— I guide you to find your Dream in your body and work with it creatively. In this way you’re able to access deeper information that bypasses your mind.
I have witnessed instantaneous healings and insights through this method.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Here are three tips that have helped me succeed in my field:
1. In the first couple of years, don’t value your success by the money you make. Rather, measure your success by the impact and changes you make in other people’s lives.
2. Say ‘yes’ to every opportunity that comes your way.
The more you practice putting yourself out there—the better you’ll become at showing people what you have to offer.
3. Value your own opinion over the opinion of others.
Brene Brown’s version of the well-known Thomas Jefferson quote sums this up perfectly: “If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I am not interested in or open to your feedback.”
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy I have found for growing my clientele has been through sharing my personal experiences and struggles in an authentic way. Once I let go of what I “should do” and just shared who I was—I was able to grow my clientele significantly. I stopped “trying” and started “being.”
When I first started my business I tried to follow the “rules” of marketing. I would use catch phrases or certain lingo that had been suggested through marketing courses. The more I pushed and came from a selling perspective—the harder it was to get the perfect client.
This wasn’t working for me. I didn’t attract many clients and some of those that I did attract weren’t a good fit for what I had to offer.
Eventually I started to share what I had been through and how I found my way to a better life. I stopped trying to sell sessions and I leaned further into the energy of trust and flow.
This shift of energy was significant and began to attract like-minded clients. The more authentically that I showed up—the more the ideal clients found their way to me.
