We were lucky to catch up with Mi’Chel Bombshell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mi’Chel, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I think back and always wish I had started my career sooner. I’ve always loved beauty but would second guess myself and my makeup talent. I allowed fear of judgment from others to delay my dreams. However, I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason, at the exact time it’s supposed to, in the ordained order it’s supposed to. I now know that I wasn’t ready to begin my career until I was ready! I could’ve started sooner but my mind wasn’t where it needed to be to start a business. I took that time to perfect my craft, go to Esthetician school, and build a business when that time came. I will tell anyone don’t think about what-if, do it at your time, and do it with/without fear. Let nothing or no one stop you but when it’s your season, it’s YOUR season so be ready!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an Esthetician, Professional Makeup Artist, and Owner of Beauty By Mi’Chel Cosmetics. I have built my brand from the ground up and have revamped a few times, but I’m proud of what I’ve created. I’m originally from Kansas City, MO and my parents are entrepreneurs, specifically my mother is a hair stylist and owned a beauty salon. So I would watch all the beauty professionals and just became obsessed with all things beauty. I chose to do makeup but it all started in that shop. I started my cosmetic line making lipgloss in my kitchen in 2019 and now it’s doing very well!
I help women feel better, enhance their natural beauty, and feel confident inside and out. I give them that feeling ALL women deserve to have. I’m also a release for them, when they sit in my chair I’m available for them to vent to. I let God lead me in my response and I create an experience they won’t forget.
What sets me apart from other MUA’s is that my business is not just about the outside looks, but even more so about the feeling and experience. I strive to provide an unforgettable experience that will keep customers coming back. I offer my clients wine, snacks, friendly conversation, esteem building services, and an overall good time!
Beauty By Mi’Chel is a name that you will continue to hear and see.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best thing society can do to support creatives is, share their work or post when you see it. Comment on said post, like said post, or purchase/book their service if you can. It literally takes nothing to like, share, or comment on a post. You don’t know how far that little gesture goes for a creative. Even if you will never book you can still support in that way!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
In the end I want to have a nonprofit that helps women who are ill, have hair loss issues, or can’t leave the hospital or their home. I would like to provide them with cosmetics, and services where we would come to their home and make them up for the day just so they can feel better. Especially young high school girls for events like prom or graduation. I would love to create an experience for them no matter where they are.
