We recently connected with Michal Renee and have shared our conversation below.
Michal, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My mother & Grandmother raised me. I did not grow up with an active father in my life. Despite that, my mother & grandmother served as a two parent stable household. My grandmother was a pastor. Watching her run her ministry & serve people was one of the best influences For my current faith in God. At the end of the day, I wasn’t made by my success, money, or anything superficial, but the integrity of my heart & how I treated others at the end of the day. My mom had a ridiculously commendable work ethic & despite working hard 6 days a week to provide for me, she made it to every recital, game, or event to show her support to me. They definitely raised me with discipline, respect, & always told me I could do anything. I think that fueled me to always do my best & my best not only for myself, but those around me!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Michal Renee. I have my B.S. in Respiratory Care. I work in acute/critical care settings. As an RRT , we do alot, but briefly we attend all hospital emergencies, initiate, maintain, & wean people off of life support, & are responsible for all respiratory treatments, therapies, & assessments. Healthcare is definitely draining especially after working frontlines through the pandemic, but it’s my chance to see lives saves first hand & be apart of it. Everyday you make a difference in someone’s life & help those in need. Its a beautiful thing!

Shhniche a mini series that can be found on Amazon Prime & the newest mini Series is called Debt. I’m currently in the middle of filming 2 other projects as well! Acting is my passion at any level & will always remain a part of me. It is my creative outlet. I also do some writing & producing. Most Recently, I started a Women Empowerment Community called Her Promise Circle. It focuses on providing support to women of today who balance their lives – relationships, children, goals, jobs etc- all the while finding time to maintain overall health. I myself have struggled for years just keeping my mental health at a manageable level. I have friends and loved ones who have done the same. It is a constant battle, especially with the world we live in today. I was tired of upholding the appearance I had it all together that todays social media portrays. We find our power & purposes by being vulnerable & open to connecting through what we struggle with.
I strive to provide a safe space for women to vent, get support, advice, & know they are not alone facing these everyday challenges. I offer One one One Life Mentorship & Faith Based Mentorship Sessions to women 16+.
We also meet weekly for bible study for those wanting to strengthen their relationship with God & build community with other christian women.
To stay updated One can always sign up to be in our community group chat or Email list! I am available to book mentorship packages through my email or the website. https://michalrenee.com/her-promise-circle

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The idea of the “boss babe” & hustle culture.
I was busting my butt. I moved here with no money & no plan. Since then I went into survival mode. Trying to break generational curses, to work a ft job, pursue acting & be successful at it all. I tríed to balance it all with grace & manage to appear that way any time anyone saw me. I was Going hard with no sleep because I had all these goals to accomplish. Just me? Ok cool lol
Burn out, although unpleasant, saved me.. Not only did I realize I was over working myself, but also that I had convinced myself I was healthy emotionally, spiritually, physically, & mentally without spending any time making sure I actually was. My anxiety went unmanaged, I buried my emotions, I never made time to pray, & I was eating out daily.
I had to reevaluate why I felt this was normal! I constantly doubted myself when I saw others appearing to do better than me. I held myself back by being afraid of putting myself out there. I was spiraling in the “boss babe” whirlpool this generation created.
You grow as a person by making time for your passions, hobbies & those you love. You grow as a person by taking care of yourself. Not only physically, but focusing on your mental, emotional, & spiritual health as well. That’s why I created the HPC Community. Its Important to me to foster a safe space where women are allowed to feel overwhelmed & know they aren’t alone as well as resources to help them get back on track or learn where to start in a healthy way.
When we take our eyes off of other peoples journeys, stop seeking validation from other people, & shift our focus onto the impact we can have on helping others, we stop setting unrealistic expectations for ourselves. God gave us all a gift & with our gifts we have a responsibility to steward them to help others. To pour into others, you yourself can’t be empty. Our focus becomes to serve others as best we can with what we have & to do that we need to be be pouring from a full cup.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Single-handedly Social Media. Mainly For me Instagram & Tik Tok. It is a huge base where creatives connect. Instagram is a gateway for networking especially for acting & film. Besides submission sites, this is where I get the most creative opportunities.
On tikt tok, by posting relatable valuable information, people can see they can trust you. People want to work with people they can see are genuine and can add value to them. Alot of the women in HPC wanted to sign up after seeing the other girls speaking and the content. People can tell better in a video if they could feel comfortable with you. I love love interacting with new people on social media & helping any way I can. If someone should need more support, then the mentorship is always available to them. Again, its the motive behind why you do what you do not the numbers. That will come if your heart is right!
Both platforms are a great way to express that, reach new people that could benefit from you, & maintain relationships with those who follow you.
