We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michaela Carter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michaela, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I am the creator of RAWCove, which stands for Restoration for Ambitious Women. RAWCove was created to be a safe space for women to make lasting, Godly connections with one another. The goal of this community is to give women the opportunity to feel as if they are on a peaceful cove with God and other women who are seeking a deeper relationship with Him.
With scripture-based content, virtual prayer sessions, meet-ups, and more, we enjoy girl talk, prayer, scripture, and FUN as a community of God-fearing women. I believe in this mission because when I was at my lowest, I had a sisterhood to cover me spiritually, from my family to friends. I believe strongly that God wants us to be in community with each other because life was not meant to be traveled through alone.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Originally from Waynesboro, GA, I made Atlanta my home about 11 years ago when I first entered college at Georgia State University. Since then, I’ve developed a love for marketing and communications, so I made that my career path. I’ve worked in many industries from government to sports. My love for writing is what fuels me to help others tell the story of their brands. Because of that, I began freelancing and eventually started a content/brand writing business to help businesses improve their branding. Outside of my professional work, my focus is my women’s ministry, RAWCove. I have a huge passion for gathering women to create a community of support. My goal is for women to feel as if they are on a peaceful cove with God! I use this passion to host events and online prayer sessions to help women cultivate a deeper relationship with Him. I’m just striving to help women discover more about God’s goodness!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My desire to build an authentic community around my spiritual and creative endeavors is what drives me. I want my work to reflect my love for people and creating safe spaces for us to simply “be.” Whether through my women’s ministry or professional writing, my mission is to bring glory to God and serve His people. With this mission in mind, I am using my gifts to create written content that helps women grow deeper in their spiritual journey and also helps to tell the unique story of various types of brands. Using my gift of words to reach those goals is what fulfills me!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
This year has been a huge pivot for me personally. I went from being a career-driven, accomplishment-focused woman to focusing more on my spiritual and mental well-being. After spending many years living for the future, I am now living for the now – embracing the present and working on my overall well-being. Since my mind has shifted from society’s definition of success to what makes my soul feel fulfilled, I’ve been in a space of reevaluating what’s important. For me, it is making sure I am whole and doing what God has called me to do. It’s been quite the journey during this pivot, but so worth it!
