We were lucky to catch up with Michael Vincent recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
During junior high school, I was nudged into attending band class, a suggestion I met with reluctance. However, what began as a reluctance soon became a vibrant turning point in my life. The rich sounds of various instruments and the energy of my classmates ignited a deep fascination with music within me.
This newfound passion opened the door to creativity, leading me to experiment with writing my songs and crafting short stories. The journey didn’t stop there; it became a desire to weave longer narratives, culminating in my aspirations to write films. This unexpected detour shaped my artistic voice and became an essential part of my identity.
It quickly became apparent that my true passion lay in becoming a Director. I envisioned a world where the captivating words of a script could be transformed into a stunning visual narrative, breathing life into every character and scene. Translating written stories into vivid imagery gave me an invigorating sense of purpose and creativity.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artistic journey began with music, where the power of melodies ignited my creativity. Unexpectedly, rather than following a music career in California, I embraced a shift to brand strategy out of necessity (money).
This change paved the way for my passion to evolve into film, enabling me to transform stories and emotions into visual masterpieces. Each step has enriched my understanding of art and expression, weaving these two mediums together beautifully.
At one point, I reflected on the types of films I wished to create. While my appreciation spans many genres, including horror and documentary, my experiences on various film sets helped clarify my creative preferences.
I am most excited about action projects that draw on adrenaline, fast-paced sequences, and intricate stunts. This revelation opened up a world of possibilities, showcasing how action films can range from thrilling blockbusters to intensely character-driven stories.
Every project presents unique challenges and storytelling opportunities, fueling my passion for filmmaking. I am grateful for the diverse range of films that inspire me, allowing my creativity to flourish in the action genre.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
This is a great question.
This is an excellent question that highlights the importance of promoting the arts. It is essential to recognize that the arts encompass a wide range of creative expressions, including music, visual arts, theater, and dance. Supporting and embracing these forms of expression is particularly crucial for our youth.
Engaging young people in the arts not only fosters creativity and imagination but also helps develop critical thinking skills and emotional intelligence.
The formative years are the best time for individuals to explore their artistic interests, as these experiences can have a profound impact on their personal growth and development.
By providing opportunities for artistic engagement, we are nurturing not only the next generation of artists but also well-rounded individuals who appreciate the value of creativity in all aspects of life.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
A dichotomy between creatives and non-creatives is not the most productive perspective. What unites us is a shared appreciation for entertainment.
It often surprises individuals who know me that I possess creative abilities and strong business acumen. It became evident that achieving success in this field necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the business aspects, as it fundamentally operates within the entertainment industry.
How, then, can this understanding benefit industry professionals?
It is essential to take the time to comprehend what they seek and what they can effectively monetize. Additionally, it is vital to be proficient in the industry’s vernacular, which encompasses knowledge of budgets, comparable analyses, and effective pitching within one’s respective domain.
