We were lucky to catch up with Michael Sneed II recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Every project I have worked on has been very meaningful. The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is the docuseries, “The Cooz Story.” The story is about a prominent family and legend of the inner city of Third Ward Houston. The Cousinards & PJ Cousinard, and his AAU basketball team, Cooz Elite. They have saved many kids lives and given them brighter futures by being great human beings. PJ Cousinard brought me an idea for a video for his AAU team. But I felt like he had a bigger story that people needed to hear. I’m close to the family, so I understand what they are all about. Showing love and giving back. What they have done, has been nothing short of greatness. So for me to turn the idea into something bigger, meant a lot. Starting from an idea and turning into what it is today. Is simply amazing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always have been into the arts. I never thought I would be where I am at right now, creating visuals and art for other people. I can remember watching and collecting all types of movies as a kid. Watching music videos over & over and recording them on VHS tapes to watch and learn the lyrics to songs. But also, to watch the effects in the videos. I’ve always loved a great visual presentation that made my emotions change while watching. I feel like if you create any type of art, it should make the viewer feel they way you want them to feel. I got into this industry by creating things for myself. As time went on, and people recognized my eye. I started asking myself, “should I take this seriously?” One day, I did. I help people with the visual side that they are trying to project. Usually when clients tell me what they are trying to create. My brain creates it visually in real time. I then go over the process with the client, letting them know of everything that will be needed to create what they will need. I have a gift for being able to visualize what others can’t see. Then taking it to the next level. Being a former professional basketball player, the work ethic and discipline comes naturally to me. The preparation, the hours of work being put in, the understanding of people reminds me of times I had playing the game. Everything is similar and helps me a lot when creating projects and putting out the best product for clients. I work hard, and truly want to make sure that I create a product for people that exceeds their expectations.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is to be able to go over and beyond for clients when they present their dreams and visions to you. I feel like being able to visually create and produce what they are bringing to you, is such a great feeling. I have the upmost confidence in what I do. All the movies, commercials, music videos, documentaries and etc., that I have watched over my lifetime. Then being able to put apply my vision and spin on clients projects and create greatness is exciting to me. Not only does it elevate that persons dreams and aspirations. It elevates the vision and goals of Sneedie Wonder Productions. We want to be better than the last product put out, every time.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal and mission is to first, be a household name in the city of Houston, Texas. Secondly, is to be able to create for individuals not just in America, but globally. I’ve been blessed to travel and see the world through the game of basketball. But ideally, we want to be able to have clients from different states and countries who see and trust the vision of Sneedie Wonder Productions and to be able to not just create in the city. But internationally. There are so many unknown stories and artists in this world. I feel like Sneedie Wonder Productions caters to the “unknown.” Those “hidden gems”, because they are everywhere.
