Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Shifrin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michael, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
One of the best stories from my career that I like is with a patient that came into the office on a whim due to vertigo and neck pain she was experiencing from a recent trip. She was in the ocean and when she came up for air, a surfboard came out of nowhere and hit her in the face causing her to develop neck pain and vertigo symptoms that she was suffering with for a month prior to her visit to the office. She was the last patient of the day and was grateful that she was able to come in before a long upcoming weekend. After treating the patient, she broke down into tears due to instant relief of her vertigo symptoms. She returned the following week and informed me that her vertigo symptoms had not returned since her treatment and she was beyond grateful for the care she had received. Stories like this are what make what I do worthwhile and give me joy in what I do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the profession after having my own back problems. I had low back pain that would travel to my right knee at age 19 and my chiropractor was able to get rid of my symptoms within 3 visits. I continued going to him for other injuries I would sustain while exercising and he knew how to get me back to 100% again. It was after this experience that I wanted to do the same for others.
I provide chiropractic care for families and athletes. I have treated patients ranging in age from newborns to elderly. Along with chiropractic care, I like incorporating myofascial release, physiotherapy and exercises because a combination of everything will help better than chiropractic care alone. What sets me apart is that not many chiropractors in the area do myofascial release and/or muscle work with patients.
I am most proud about the atmosphere in my office and how it is calming and inviting. I am also proud of the care that I provide for patients knowing that I am doing my best to help them.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being active in the community is very important and being active on social media. This gets your name out there and more people start thinking of you when they need care. The bigger your presence, the more successful you will be.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for building clientele is spending the money and time on marketing. This is something that is not taught much in school and is something you have to learn on your own. Putting in the effort in getting your name out there will grow your business.
