Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Ray Fain. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Michael Ray thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
I signed with Debbie Bennett, Grace Records Nashville in June 2023. Looking for promotional opportunities, I reached out to her after completing my last Country Gospel project, Rye’s N’ Shine. Grace Records seemed to be a great fit and Debbie just happened to also be from my hometown of Stuart, Va.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
At a young age I fell in love with music while watching family members, (Uncle Jack, Pa Joe, and Cousin Herbert) play and sing old time fiddle tunes, Country standards, and Gospel Hymns.
Hank Williams, Don Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Alan Jackson, and Randy Travis are just a few that have influenced me. I have spent the past 10 years not only singing but also songwriting which I have a passion for.
Country and Country Gospel is as real as it gets. It’s all about Truth and everyone can relate to the truth in one way or the other.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s been said that music is a universal language and I believe that to be true. The most rewarding thing for me is to write and record something that touches people, especially when you can encourage and make a positive impact on someone’s life!

Have you ever had to pivot?
On a warm sunny day, windows down, driving a country backroad, Clint Black randomly comes across the airwaves with “Better Man”. At that moment it’s when I realize I have to pursue my dreams regardless of outcome. You have to believe in yourself even if you’re the only one that does, and that goes for anything in life.
