We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michael Miles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michael below.
Michael, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
My whole life, I have always been a visual and creative person. I went to college at St, John’s University and studied business marketing with a minor in graphic design. While in school I learned how to master Photoshop, which lead me to editing photos for other people/photographers. While doing this, I was always bringing someone else’s vision to life… so it hit me that I should start taking my own photos, creating my own ideas, and bring my visions to life. I began reading books and watching Youtube videos to learn about cameras and lighting, and started shooting. I started off taking photos for family and friends, and it got to the point where I was being hired by other people. As time went on and I became more proficient with the camera, my clientele grew, and at this point I realized it was time to take this to the next level, so I started my own photography company. My passion for always being creative and learning new skills, drove me to began learning how to shoot videos. After shooting a few videos and developing my own style, more people began wanting to book with me, so I decided to add videography to company, which lead me to moving my company from a photography company, to a full media company.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My passion for being creative, lead me to starting my media company, where I provide photography and videography services. I love being able to help people bring their ideas to life, and seeing that “WOW” look on their face once they see the final product. I worked with all types of clients, from models, brides, families, musical artist, and businesses both large and small, and have helped them all bring their ideas to life, whether it be for personal use or to help market/brand their business. Even if you don’t have a clear idea of what you want, my degree in marketing along with my experience in this industry, gives me the knowledge to be able to come up with something creative so we can achieve your desired goal. Over the many years in this business, I have been published in numerous magazines all around the world, and have even had my photos placed on several covers.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think the key to running any successful business is not only having a good product but also providing excellent customer service. When your clients see that you care just as much as they do about the service you are providing them, it becomes more of an experience, rather than just a photo or video shoot. Yes, I do believe that I am very talented and my work speaks for itself, but there are many great creatives out there in the world, so you separate yourself by the type of environment that you create for your clients. I believe by always providing a safe, fun, and exciting environment plays a huge part on the reputation I have in this industry.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding parts of my business is being able to freely express myself through my work, and the positive feedback I get from my clients and viewers.
