We recently connected with Michael Lambard and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time I wish I would have continued to paint from when I was a teenager. My love for art grew in the early 90’s as a Street Artist. Being able to work with so many different local artists was such a rewarding time. When I was 15 I became a father and realized I needed to make some money. Being a Barber for 10+ years allowed me the financial security to start again. I started drawing a lot more and eventually that led to me painting and doing it full time. I don’t wish I started sooner nor later but continued from when I was a younger kid instead of having the decade long drought.

Michael, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Michael Lambard I’m an Arizona based artist that specializes in pop art. I mostly use acrylic but not afraid to dabble in other mediums while perfecting my vision. I gravitate towards large canvases to bring my art to life. I currently work and live in Phoenix, Arizona. I paint in a few different styles but you can see Pop Art with Street Art influences in most of my work. My subjects include cartoons, pop culture, sports and even some Greek mythology. I’m proud of the growth that I have experienced over the last 8-9 years and being able to consistently satisfy my clients is highly rewarding.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I was a teenager I had a son and had to pivot from being a young kid to trying to figure how to support a family. I went from being a kid who didn’t have any responsibilities to stumbling into the job force. I did a ton of different retail and sales jobs until I finally went to Barber school and made that a career. Being able to be a Barber allowed me to take care of my family and also allowed me to meet a ton of great people.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an Artist is being able to share and inspire others to do what makes them happy. I’ve been doing this for about 8 years and it’s been a remarkable journey. Being able to take a vision whether it be my own, or a clients and bringing it to life is a truly amazing reward for the work put in. Im very lucky that I’m able to do this full time and continue to improve my craft.
