We were lucky to catch up with Michael Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michael , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I was in church at the age of 19 years old. I never thought God truly cared or would speak to me the way he did that day. I was going to church but I truly did not have a relationship with God. I don’t remember that exact day but I do remember the details of that day. It was a Sunday of course and I’m sitting on the left of the church facing the stage against the wall. I remember I had on an all brown denim jacket and pants with my black lugz boots , I though I was so fly. We had a guest Pastor on this particular Sunday whom I have never met or heard of in my life. He’s preaching and has he began to finish his sermon he began to pray. As he is praying he points to me and asks me to come to the stage. It took me a minute to move because I’m like there’s no way he’s talking to me. So after a moment I realized that we was talking to me so I proceed to the stage. He begins to tell me that God told him to tell me that I had a passion for clothing and the youth and that based off me leading youth many will be saved and called to God. Also as far as the clothing he had a clothing brand himself called preacher boy jeans and we began to work together and I began to design for him and we met a few times. As time went on we lost contact and so I was kinda lost on what to do. Then God sent someone else in my life who already had a clothing line and knew the ropes and gave me the direction I needed. So when I met him he introduced me to his screen printer and wholesale manufacturer and I was able to design for myself and with the money I was saving up in a green crayon get me first shirts printed. Then after that person helped me get started , God then brought someone else im my life to help me get to where I am today. I remember taking my first order of shirts to church the following weekend and selling out and that truly sparked the journey. I’m so grateful that the pastor was obedient to God because so many years later my brand has grown so much and I’m currently serving as the youth director over our churches middle school ministry. Everything he said was true and I’m living it.

Michael , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My Name is Michael Jackson born and raised in Houston, Tx, I’m a Husband , father and Man of God. My brand is called Holy One Clothing , our foundational scripture comes from 1 Peter 1:16 where God says “Be Holy for I Am Holy”. To be holy means to be set apart for God’s use and not for the worlds. If you would say my slogan or tag line is 3 Nails 3 Days. This means that Jesus was hung on the cross using 3 nails. They nailed him in both hands and one nail through both feet. He rose from the grave on the 3rd day and at the age of 33 he died. 3 Nails 3 Days age 33 he died. We have a two part mission one is to invade culture with the gospel of Jesus Christ through apparel, secondly is to inspire other believers to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and win souls. One of the main problems we solve is helping believers share their faith.. We take this a step further and encourage our community to actually get out in culture and win souls for Jesus Christ. This is what I believe separates us from most companies because while all faith based companies want others to share their faith. We actually lead the charge and evangelize and equip our community to do the same through content, email and free resources. We help our community Holy Nation overcome the fear rejection, the fact they don’t feel called or don’t know what to say, the list can go on and on. Our clothing sparks conversations that give believers the courage and confidence to share their faith.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I didn’t build my audience by chasing followers I built disciples by staying consistent with a clear message. From day one, I focused on content that combined faith and culture in a way that actually spoke to people’s everyday lives. That meant creating videos about the gospel, evangelism, and bold faith, not just posting products.
What really helped was consistency and conviction. I posted frequently—sometimes multiple times a day—and paid attention to what resonated. The content that performed best wasn’t overly polished, it was real, direct, and message-driven. I also made sure every piece of content had a purpose: either to inspire, challenge, or lead people closer to Christ.
Another key factor was building community, not just an audience. I engaged in the comments, asked questions, and created opportunities for people to participate—like evangelism challenges and conversations around faith. That turned followers into a movement.
For anyone just starting, my advice would be:
Stay consistent even when you’re not seeing results yet.
Focus on your message more than aesthetics.
Speak directly to a specific audience, not everyone.
And most importantly, be authentic—people can feel what’s real.
If your content has purpose and you stay disciplined, growth will come.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation was built through consistency, authenticity, and impact. I didn’t just create clothing I created a message that resonates. By consistently showing up with purpose-driven content, evangelism-focused initiatives, and high-quality products, we built trust with our audience.
I also prioritized community over transactions. Whether through social media, outreach, or campaigns like evangelism challenges, we made people feel like they were part of something bigger than just a brand.
Lastly, I stayed true to our missionboldly representing faith without compromise—while maintaining a high standard of quality and creativity. That combination of message, consistency, and community is what set us apart in our niche.
