Michael, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project you’ve worked on lately is The MKG Affair, which led to the launch of my Music Album, “Thanks for the Love”. The pre-launched two books, “Never Broken,” which chronicle my journey of survival, resilience, and growth, while offering lessons and encouragement to others. “Investigating Information and Communication Technologies by University Faculty in Sub-Saharan Africa” is a policy book based on supervised empirical research. The introduction of “Kasa Gray,” a fashion brand inspired by African artistry. The announcement of The Gray Group, Inc., a boutique consulting firm specializing in Human Capital Development and Organizational Strategy, and the launch of the Michael K. Gray Show, a multimedia platform highlighting Changemakers.

I am also a strategic government relations executive, influencing policy, driving public impact, and building cross-sector alliances. Iam a dedicated, results-driven, and well-accomplished Senior Leader with over two decades of success shaping legislative priorities, advancing policy influence, and forging high-value partnerships across government, business, and nonprofit sectors. I also have a Ph.D. in Human Capital Development.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a teenager, I lived through the Liberian civil war, facing several life-threatening encounters with rebel forces. Yet, by God’s grace and protection, I survived. The following is an excerpt from my book, “Never Broken”:
My appeal for my life irritated the rebels, who furiously pounded the frames of
their AK-47s and Beretta automatic guns on my body. Thud! A punch landed on
my face. I responded to a kick that landed on my stomach. “Ah!” It was
excruciating when the kick went to the rib area.
In 1990, during a time of extreme survival, I experienced a profound awakening.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is completing a project; producing something others can see, touch, or hear. Every artist begins with an idea—visual or imagined—but the most profound aspect is transforming that concept into reality. As an artist, it is essential to leave something of yourself behind. What you create may profoundly impact others, inspiring them to discover and express their inner creativity.
