We recently connected with Michael Girgenti and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
I do have an agent who’s awesome, kind, and helpful but most of the work I’ve ever booked has come from me hustling or pursuing jobs / people. Thankfully at this point I’m not really chasing anything but God. The Lord is guiding my steps and I trust his directions. Not to mention, he’s the greatest agent of all time ;)

Michael, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The acting part of my life came way later, I wasn’t a child actor, nor ever grew up “wanting to be an actor”, it kinda just happened. Had some interests in filmmaking after being exposed to Hollywood and from working on a couple major movie sets. Along the way I saw a common ground of what I had been doing already in the arts with the performance side of music mixed with where I thought I was going. Before acting it was music and modeling but movies is a mixture of both, as an actor there’s a performative rhythm to it and essentially you’re modeling words.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn is “all publicity is good publicity” and the concept of “you have to say yes to every job that comes your way”. There most def is a such thing as bad publicity, and it’s ok to say no. It’s actually very important to say no and be extremely cautious where and how you divide your time and also who you give it to.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is not wasting God’s gifts that are planted in us all. We all are creative and talented in various ways, the only difference is some people chose to utilize them, others don’t. Just because you don’t sing, act, dance, rap, or model doesn’t mean you’re not creative. Bankers, Janitors, Teachers, Truck Drivers, Surgeons and many more careers all offer creative opportunities to shine in their fields. I recommend a book “Story of a Soul” by St Therese of Lisieux.
