I first relieved I wanted to other’s through my artwork. Was when I was going through my own life mental health challenges. Suffering from Anxiety, stress, depression, ptsd,Being physically & mentally, sexaualy abused. A person I met said to me to try art it’s a good way for you.I started painting and I found it a great relief, so I decided to learn & help others who have any type of disability or mental health problems. As well I have a visually impaired, legally Blind, partly color blind, so I also wanted to help others like me through artwork for help those who love art but can’t see it. I do it through touch & textures so they can Feel the artwork.

Michael , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well I really wanted to help myself, to get better & feel better with my mental health illness as well as my vision impairment, legally Blind, partly color blind, to push my boundaries visually. Then once I made a change physically and mentally. I wanted others like to experience how art saved my life. And people see how it help me it can help them as well.
I am a abstract artist that has a visually impaired, legally Blind, I love doing my artwork to challenge me visually, as well helping me with my mental health. I got started art work to help me with my mental. I suffer from anxiety, stress, depression, ptsa. Art helps me so I was physically, mentally, sexually abuse. So I created a artwork workshop to help others out that are going through anything dealing with mental health, visually impaired, legally Blind, to experience Art. Through touch tactile textured canvas painting, So they can experience art. My goal is to anyone going through any type of stress, to learn get a clear understanding way painting helps to deal with there mental health & there emotions. To put everything on canvas a tell there story through art. One challenging thing made almost give up is when I had a opportunity to have in a exhibition in a gallery. After the event the gallery owner came up to Mr and said she felt I wasn’t ready to show or prepare to be showing my artwork. Cause she didn’t understand my abstract artwork, & I wasn’t trained in art or didn’t go to art school. So I turned that into fuel to push forward and make my own path in art. People have really took to my artwork I have ben in artshows, galleries & art museum in Allentown pa. In there exhibit cocktails & collections, the past 3yrs. The people who have been there every step of the way & supported me is God, my wife Jannillia Hamilton Freeman, my daughter Asia Monique Morton! A rest family & friends.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that comes to mind for me is when I started in my art career. Was I was given a chance to display some of my artwork in a gallery near me. And after that exhibition the owner of the gallery, because she really couldn’t understand my artwork. She told me that I’m not ready to be in the art space & need to study more. So if I listen to her I would not be where I am today. And now that same lady that told me that her art gallery is closed & I’m still standing & doing my art & helping other’s.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal now is to speak & inspire others that are going through there journey is, one protect your mental health, don’t let anyone put there expectations on you, & don’t stop go as far as you can & know your not alone there are others here to help * be by your side.
