We recently connected with Michael Di Battista and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our mission is to create a brand that delivers happiness through the world of food.
As we know, food is an integral part of culture, family, and relationships. Celebrations are often centered around food, with many of life’s happiest moments marked by festive meals.
We have the opportunity to make someone’s day, every day. Doing this while sharing a piece of ourselves in each meal is the coolest thing we’ve ever done. We have the chance to show our work ethic, share our personality, and do things our way. So we strive to be 1% better each day. We grind our meat in-house for a delicate patty, treat potatoes for hours for that sweet crisp; and reduce stocks for days to get that perfect thickness and robust flavor.
Maybe we’re crazy being this bold and serving what most people see to be a quick, cheap bite.
But that’s okay because we do it for the love of the game.

Michael, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Michael. I went to school for Dietetics and worked in sports and clinical nutrition. Throughout all of this, I realized not only did I enjoy cooking but I wanted to center my life around cooking – so I dove into the deep end.
My two childhood friends, Jose and Brandon, spent most of their lives working in the business scene.
We all had a passion for food and wanted to share that with our community, so we combined our heads and founded the Burger Jawn.
We decided on doing burgers for our product after a handful of conversations regarding the burger scene in our area.
It didn’t seem like there were any quality burger spots and we wanted to change that, for ourselves and the community.
We didn’t want to be just any other burger joint so we studied how can we improve what is already a classic. Better technique, better ingredients, and doing all the small things right; this is the foundation of our product.
We didn’t just want to make a classic item better, but stir the pot, rock the boat, and introduce concepts the burger scene never heard before. We want people to say, “holy cow, this melts in your mouth more than a steak.” We also want them to say “Holy smokes, I’ve never had marmalades, Au Jus, and flavors like this as a burger before.”
For us, it’s all about creating an experience for our guests.
What we feel sets us apart from others is just our style and the whole reason we are doing this – our mission.
We truly believe in doing all the small things right, regardless of how meticulous the process may be.
What this yields is a product that is clearly levels above the norm. Come get a burger from us and you’ll see :)

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Having a product that excels at what it is meant to do is a clear way to build a reputation, however, it’s not the only way.
We’re not experts in this field but we found that being personable, compassionate, and working our butts off has gotten us through the toughest of times. People who we never met before starting this journey have shown such kindness we are forever grateful. Recurring guests are not just numbers, but names and faces that we’ve come to know and had the pleasure of interacting with every month.
Be pleasurable, be humble, and strive to be great – the people will see this.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We are a small group of 3 childhood friends.
I have known these guys for more than half my life and we had the pleasure to grow with each other.
I had a deep desire to showcase the food I was working on. They had empty stomachs and skills to pay the bills.
In the end, it was an idea that the three of us came up with and our natural backgrounds/relationship just made journey a blast to be a part of.
