Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Coxen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michael, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew the firm
When people see my real estate business today—a thriving sales business, growing brokerage, a strong culture, and agents producing at a high level—they often assume it was an overnight success. But the truth is, it took years of deliberate rebuilding, personal transformation, and a lot of trial and error to create a business that’s both profitable and human-centered.
Before Magenta, I had already experienced burnout in business. I was running nonstop—managing real estate deals, clients, and a whole other separate small business—until my body literally shut down. A serious battle with ulcerative colitis left me bedridden and forced me to reevaluate everything. That moment changed how I approached business forever. I learned that sustainable growth starts from within: mentally, physically, and structurally.
When my wife Brooke and I created Magenta, we made one non-negotiable rule: this company had to work for people, not the other way around. We wanted a brokerage that elevated agents, supported balance, and rewarded authenticity, not just production.
Scaling Magenta wasn’t about chasing volume; it was about building systems, culture, and trust.
• Culture first: We created an environment where mindfulness and mastery are equally valued. Every new agent learns not just how to sell, but how to lead themselves—how to stay calm when deals fall apart, how to handle stress, and how to serve clients from a place of presence.
• Systems second: We invested early in structure—SharePoint, Teams, FollowUpBoss, SkySlope—so agents could plug into an ecosystem that supported compliance, efficiency, and communication.
• Service always: We built the business around the question, How can we help agents succeed without sacrificing their lives? That people-first mindset became our advantage.
There were plenty of growing pains—technology challenges, managing growth without diluting our standards, learning to delegate—but those moments became the foundation for what Magenta is now: a modern, mindful brokerage that proves you can scale without losing your soul.
Today, we’re growing not because of gimmicks, but because we’ve aligned our outer success with inner strength. The strategy was simple, but not easy: build systems that scale, a culture that sustains, and a brand that attracts people who want to grow in business and in life.
Because success doesn’t happen overnight, it starts within.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Michael Coxen — a real estate broker, entrepreneur, and coach based in Las Vegas. I help ambitious real estate professionals and entrepreneurs build businesses that work with their lives, not against them.
My story really began the moment everything stopped. Years ago, I was running full speed — juggling real estate deals, a growing business, and the constant pressure to produce — until I was suddenly hospitalized with a severe case of ulcerative colitis. It was a life-threatening illness that forced me to slow down, to completely rethink how I was living and leading.
That period changed everything for me. I realized that “success” means nothing if it costs you your health, your peace, or your relationships. Through meditation, mindfulness, and an honest look at my own habits, I rebuilt not just my body, but my mindset and my approach to business. I learned firsthand that success starts within.
Today, I’m the Broker-Owner of Magenta Real Estate, a modern, human-centered brokerage in Las Vegas designed to help agents thrive without burning out. We’ve built systems and a culture that emphasize mindfulness, service, and excellence — proving you can scale a real estate business while staying grounded and authentic.
In addition to leading Magenta, I coach agents and entrepreneurs nationwide and host The Mindful Agent Podcast, where we explore the intersection of mindfulness, leadership, and business mastery. Through my coaching programs, speaking engagements, and podcast, I help people redefine success on their own terms — balancing growth with well-being.
What sets me apart isn’t just the results — it’s the philosophy behind them. I blend practical business strategy with the mindset and energy work that most entrepreneurs ignore. I teach people how to stay calm under pressure, how to design sustainable success, and how to lead with authenticity and service.
The problems I solve go beyond business metrics. I work with people who are successful on paper but exhausted in real life — the ones who’ve checked all the boxes but feel something’s missing. Together, we build systems, habits, and mental frameworks that bring their outer success back into alignment with their inner peace.
What I’m most proud of isn’t the sales volume or the growth of our brokerage — it’s watching people transform. Seeing agents regain confidence, find balance, and reconnect with why they started in this business in the first place — that’s what drives me.
At the heart of everything I do, there’s a simple message:
You don’t have to sacrifice your well-being to achieve great things.
When you align who you are with how you work, success follows naturally.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
For most of my early career, I believed that more effort meant more success. I wore exhaustion like a badge of honor — long hours, constant phone calls, never taking a break. In real estate, that kind of hustle is almost glorified. You hear it all the time: If you’re not grinding, you’re falling behind.
But that belief nearly destroyed me.
Years ago, I was running a small business with my wife, working seven days a week, when I suddenly became seriously ill with ulcerative colitis. I went from closing deals and managing a full calendar to being bedridden, unable to work, and in and out of hospitals. My body had literally given out.
That season of my life forced me to confront the truth: my definition of success was broken. I had built a career on willpower, but not on wisdom. I had been doing everything for success instead of building something that was truly aligned with who I was.
The lesson I had to unlearn was that hustle is the only path forward. The real power is in presence.
When I stopped equating worth with productivity, everything began to change. I learned that sustainable success comes from alignment, not exhaustion — from clarity, not chaos. I began meditating daily, creating structure instead of stress, and focusing on service rather than speed.
That shift didn’t just heal my body; it reshaped my business. It led to the creation of Magenta Real Estate and The Mindful Agent brand — both built on the idea that success and well-being aren’t opposites, they’re partners.
So, the lesson I had to unlearn is simple but profound:
Hustle might build a business, but presence builds a life.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
If I had to narrow it down, I’d say my reputation was built on consistency, calm, and care.
When I first got into real estate, I didn’t have a big network or a marketing budget. What I did have was a commitment to doing the right thing, even when no one was watching. I returned every call, followed through on every promise, and treated every client like they were my only one. Over time, that kind of consistency compounds — it builds trust, and trust is what lasts.
But what really set me apart came later, after I went through my own health crisis and rebuilt my business from the ground up. That experience changed my energy completely. I stopped chasing deals and started focusing on service. I learned to stay calm under pressure — whether a deal was falling apart or an agent was overwhelmed — and that steadiness became my superpower. People started to see me as someone who could handle chaos with clarity.
In an industry that often celebrates speed and ego, I chose presence and integrity. I built systems at Magenta that reflect those same values — transparency, accountability, and human connection. We don’t just train agents to sell; we teach them how to lead themselves, communicate clearly, and serve their clients from a place of mindfulness.
That approach has attracted agents and clients who want something deeper than transactions — they want trust, leadership, and authenticity. And that’s what I’ve built my reputation on.
