We recently connected with Michael Brovac and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Michael thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I’ve taken many risks in my life but the biggest risk I’ve ever taken was to commit to health and listen to my mentor the first time I met him 2018.
Up until I was 18 yrs old, my life consisted of being hospitalized with my little brother Cameron.
At birth we were diagnosed with a rare form of immune deficiency that was 2 out of 50 cases worldwide.
We had things like brain tumours, arthritis, diabetes, 30 medications, over 100 surgeries and countless other medical conditions that affected how we developed mentally, emotionally, and physically in our youth.
My biggest risk came 2 years after my brother Cameron passed away at 10yrs old when I had to endure a procedure called a bone marrow transplant.
This was when I was the weakest and most sick I’d ever been especially with being on chemo for 2 months.
My mentor came into my life a week before I went into this surgery, the first time I ever met him he didn’t tell me his name, who he was, or why he was here.
All he said was have you ever thought about killing yourself, this was huge because I’d been thinking that all my life and when Cameron passed away 2 years prior that’s what I expected my life to end as.
My mentor not only confronted my darkest idea he also said to me “you are more then just a kid in a hospital bed. You need to stop being a victim and start making your brother proud while he’s watching you”.
After that day I had a huge risk to take, either follow through with what I originally wanted which was suicide in any way I could or take this life that I felt so ashamed of and change it to honour my brother Cameron.
Thankfully with Christian my mentor by my side and the support I had through my family and close friends around me I chose to commit to this life.
5 years later I am now a player development basketball coach, personal trainer, life coach, speaker and entrepreneur.
The same way he told me to honour Cam has now manifested into my brand called CAM-O where our mission is to help kids within hospitals suffering from a lack of connection and belonging creating depression.
This is now not only my legacy it is my brothers legacy and from that risk it has now transformed into my forever purpose of not only honouring cam but building myself into the best leader I can be. being what my brother never had.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who haven’t heard of me and my profession my job revolves on making others succeed in their own life at a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
I specialize in not only helping regular people evolve within that but even professional athletes.
I have worked with athletes who have played at the highest level in the NBA to a young teen struggling with depression and lifestyle deficiencies.
Outside of being a Coach/Trainer I am also a speaker with doing talks in front of 15 000 virtually to a classroom of 15 kids.
My entrepreneurial side comes from developing my own life lasting brand called CAM-O where we specialize in helping kids to young adults who are hospitalized suffering from a lack of connection and belonging creating depression.
Our services include speaking, coaching, training and products that are necessary to succeed and overcome that circumstance.
As I’m writing this I’m also in the process of creating my self brand known as my name “Michael Brovac”. This summarizes what I specialize as an individual outside of my business CAM-O and represents while working for other organizations.
The way I got involved with all of these things is very simple, having mentorship and realizing through my own life experiences and story of being in and out of a hospital for 18yrs that it all had a purpose.
The thing that I believe separates me from anyone in my industry is my life experiences. I don’t only have the experience of being a success story but the complete opposite.
If I have to say what I’m most proud of it would have to be the service I’m able to provide for others.
This is extremely significant for me because alot of my life I felt like my existence was a waste of time.
Now I get to bring tremendous value to those in my presence, it’s a surreal feeling.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy I’ve come to learn in growing your clientele has to be providing free value.
Before you can charge or expect any exchange of value you have to first prove to not only yourself but those around you that what you have is valuable.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Other then the training and knowledge I’ve gathered within my profession the biggest thing that has helped me succeed is first hand experience.
My mentor taught me this very early in my base faze, truthfully without it I would not have near the amount of confidence, joy and security while doing what I do.
An example was in the first year of building my business my mentor made me post a story on instagram everyday of me speaking into the camera.
Up until that point I had never spoken in front of anyone except for him.
This was extremely uncomfortable but after doing it for a month or 2 I started to find my grove.
To this day I get compliments on how well I speak.
I had read books and done courses but until I did the thing I was trying to do consistently I never built the skill like I have it today.
