We recently connected with Michael Bordenaro and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Michael thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I definitely wish I would have started my Youtube business sooner than later. Like many people I was probably too afraid to do it for a while but then after having gotten fed up enough with being a real estate agent, I knew it was time to go in a different direction. So my only regret is not starting sooner.

Michael , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a former real estate agent ( I still have my license but only do referrals now) I have a unique perspective on the real estate industry which is the main focus of my YouTube channel.
I started my career in March of 2009 right as the housing market was crashing and I saw many people lose their homes, go into foreclosure and get evicted.
Now the economy is showing similar warning signs and I am trying to share that with my viewers in order to help them avoid the potential pitfalls if they were to purchase a home in todays housing market.
That sets me apart mainly because all real estate agents are in the business to sell you a house, no matter what! That’s exactly the opposite of what I am trying to do, which is to educate my viewers and let them decide if it’s a good time to buy or not for them.
What makes me most proud is every time I get a comment or an email from a viewer telling me how I have literally saved them thousands of dollars by deciding to purchase a home when they did, or instances where people have waited and got a much better deal. It makes me feel fantastic I am able to help people at scale and really change peoples lives in this way, and when they let me know about it, its icing on the cake.
Have you ever had to pivot?
As a YouTube creator, I realized almost 2 years ago, that a pivot was necessary. Formerly I mainly made content around what it’s like to live in Florida, buy real estate there etc. But when I started noticing another real estate bubble forming, I decided to change my content to what it is today, warning and basically teaching them how to not get burned in this housing market.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
After being in the real estate business for many years and wanting to pivot in order to make a living on social media instead I started my YouTube channel in August of 2019.
I was so determined to make it into a career and make it work, I basically did whatever it took to make it happen. And for me, that was consistency. Consistently showing up initially making 3 videos per week and fast forward today to making 6 videos per week.
But other than consistency a big learning curve was watching educational YouTube channels that teach you how to grow one, and actually implementing the advice was a huge part of my success. So many people think they can just upload a few videos and blow up and go viral, but in fact, it’s really the opposite for almost everyone except the lucky few.
The best advice I can give is to understand your audience and the personality / demographic of who you are actually talking to in order to have a chance at connecting with them. Without understanding that, it will be a very difficult journey.
