We were lucky to catch up with Michael Bögl recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michael , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I completed my schooling and entered university, I had the opportunity to work as a salesperson in a prestigious global software company. Although it was a standard 9-5 job, it required a daily one-hour commute to the office and another hour back home. During the hiring process, they promised to invest in my growth and provide training and further education opportunities. Unfortunately, these promises never materialized, and I found myself stuck at the lowest level of the corporate hierarchy.
My primary responsibility at the company was surprisingly mundane – disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the office coffee machine every Friday to ensure it was ready for the following week. To remind me of this task, they even placed a post-it note on my desk.
It was during this time that I began to realize the typical 9-5 office job wasn’t fulfilling my aspirations. I craved a more creative and independent path where I could be my own boss and make a living doing what I truly loved.
Michael , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Short Bio: Michael is a professional photographer based in Munich, Germany, who has developed a unique approach to his craft over the past five years. His style of capturing people and places has earned him a reputation as one of the most innovative photographers in the industry. Despite his success, Michael is always seeking new creative challenges and pushing the boundaries of his art.
His work has been displayed in galleries and exhibitions around the world, and he has established a thriving career in photography and the arts. With a master’s degree in international management and a bachelor’s degree in marketing management, Michael has excelled in diverse fields and continues to be a trailblazer in the world of photography and art.
More Information: From a young age, I fell in love with photography. During our family holidays, I always had a film camera in my hand, capturing everything that caught my eye. Later, my parents gifted me a little digital camera, allowing me to document our cherished moments with greater precision.
As time passed, I momentarily lost my connection to photography, but in early 2019, the passion was reignited. It was then that I purchased my first professional camera and embarked on a journey of self-employment as a photographer.
In addition to pursuing my artistic passion, I successfully completed my master’s degree in “International Management” at the university. This diverse academic background equips me with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive as a self-employed professional.
What truly distinguishes me is my approach and view of photography. I have transcended the label of a mere photographer and embraced the identity of an artist. Within my images, I have cultivated a distinct and proud style.
My art’s ultimate goal is to inspire people, encouraging them to venture beyond their comfort zones, explore uncharted territories, and push their boundaries. Through photography, I aim to ignite the spark of curiosity and instill a sense of wonder in all who experience my work.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs present an incredible opportunity for artists to forge a new path in their careers. With the chance to be independent and cultivate a dedicated audience on platforms like Twitter, artists can now directly sell their artwork on various marketplaces. I’ve personally experienced the transformative power of NFTs, establishing a strong brand and community within the web3 world. My journey has attracted a devoted following of fellow artists, collectors, and friends.
Having spoken at prominent NFT events in London and New York, I’ve been an advocate for the growth and development of NFTs as a revolutionary artistic medium, particularly for photography. The potential for artists to explore boundless possibilities and connect directly with their audience is truly exhilarating, and I am thrilled to be a part of this dynamic movement.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most fulfilling aspect of being an artist, for me, is when people reach out and express their curiosity, wanting to learn from my creative process. It brings me immense joy to know that I can contribute, even in a small way, to someone else’s journey in pursuing their dreams. The opportunity to inspire and guide others on their artistic path is truly a rewarding experience that fuels my passion and purpose as an artist.
