Michael , appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Absolutely, being a business owner has brought me purpose and a great deal of happiness and fulfillment, but it’s not without its challenges. There are times when I do think about what it would be like to have a regular job, particularly during difficult or stressful moments in the business.
The last time I had that thought was a few months ago. We were going through a significant growth phase at Woobie Official, and the pressure was mounting. Our production line was struggling to keep up with the demand, and I was working long hours to ensure our customers received their orders on time. I remember sitting at my desk late one night, exhausted and overwhelmed, sipping cold coffee and going through another excel spreadsheet.
That’s when the thought crossed my mind – would it be easier to just have a regular job, where I could clock out at the end of the day and not worry about the never-ending list of responsibilities that come with running a business? I took a moment to step back and reflect on my journey as a business owner.
As I thought about it, I realized that despite the challenges, I couldn’t imagine my life without Woobie Official. The joy of creating a product that brings comfort and happiness to our customers, the satisfaction of providing employment opportunities to our team, and the excitement of watching the company grow far outweigh the difficulties I face on a daily basis.
I concluded that while a regular job might offer more predictable hours and less responsibility, it wouldn’t provide me with the same sense of purpose and passion that I get from running my own business. This realization helped me push through the challenges, and I was able to find ways to streamline our processes and better manage my time to reduce stress.
In the end, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a business owner, and I’m continually learning and growing from the experiences it provides. The rewards of seeing my vision come to life and knowing that I am making a positive impact on our customers’ lives make it all worthwhile.

My name is Michael Battista and I am the founder and CEO of Woobie Official. My journey into this industry began with my background as a U.S. Army Green Beret, where I developed a deep passion for helping people and an interest in functional design.
During my time in the service, I was exposed to a variety of challenging situations and environments that required resilience and adaptability. I realized the importance of having reliable gear that could provide comfort and protection, no matter the circumstances. This understanding, combined with my fascination for innovation ultimately inspired me to create Woobie Official.
At Woobie Official, we provide high-quality, versatile products that cater to the needs of our customers, whether they are outdoor enthusiasts, military personnel, or simply individuals seeking comfort and warmth in their everyday lives. Our flagship product, the Woobie Hoodie, is designed to be lightweight, durable, and easily packable, making it a perfect companion for various outdoor activities or even just lounging at home.
What sets us apart from others in the market is our commitment to using premium materials and innovative designs that are backed by my and my business partners firsthand experience in the field. Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As the demand for our Woobie Hoodies skyrocketed, we started to experience scaling issues. We were selling out of our products faster than we could produce them, and our production line was struggling to keep up with the high demand. This put immense pressure on the entire team, as we were working tirelessly to ensure our customers received their orders on time.
Adding to the challenge, we discovered that counterfeiters had started to make fake Woobie Hoodies. These knockoff products were of inferior quality and were being sold at lower prices, which not only hurt our brand reputation but also undermined the trust our customers had in us.
Faced with these obstacles, I knew I had to be resilient and find a way to address these issues effectively. I decided to tackle the problem head-on and began by streamlining our production processes, hiring additional staff, and partnering with reliable suppliers to increase our production capacity. This enabled us to meet the growing demand and maintain the high-quality standards we had set for our products.
To combat the counterfeit products, we implemented stricter quality control measures and we also communicated with our customers, informing them about the fake products in the market and providing guidelines on how to identify and purchase genuine Woobie Hoodies.
Throughout this challenging period, my resilience and determination to overcome these obstacles played a crucial role in our success. We managed to scale our operations efficiently, protect our brand, and continue to provide our customers with the authentic, high-quality products they had come to expect from Woobie Official. This experience not only strengthened our business but also taught me valuable lessons about adaptability and the importance of facing challenges head-on.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
How I met my business partner and co-founder, Alex Aun. Our journey together began when we both attended airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. We were immediately drawn to each other’s determination and shared interests, forging a strong bond during our time there.
Our paths continued to intertwine as we both went on to attend the Special Forces Qualification Course together. Through the rigorous training and challenging experiences, our bond only grew stronger, and we gained immense respect for each other’s skills and resilience. It was during this time that we discovered our mutual passion for business and wanted to create high-quality, functional products that could make a difference in people’s lives.
As we continued to serve in the military, we would often discuss our entrepreneurial aspirations and how we could combine our skills and experiences to create a business that reflected our values and goals.
Our shared experiences at airborne school and the Special Forces Qualification Course not only laid the foundation for our strong friendship and partnership but also equipped us with the skills, knowledge, and determination to create a successful business. Today, we continue to work closely together, channeling our passion and dedication into providing our customers with innovative, high-quality products that cater to their diverse needs.
