Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Arinze. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michael, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Growing up, I always had a interest in photography, enjoying those moments when I could freeze time with a single click. I found joy in capturing the little details that others might overlook. However, life got busy, and while my love for photography never waned, it was relegated to the sidelines. The lockdown provided an unexpected silver lining: time. With hours to spare, I delved deep into online courses, honing my skills and refining my technique. This period of introspection and learning rekindled my passion in a profound way. Realizing the potential of turning my lifelong hobby into a career, I made the decision to pursue photography professionally
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began my foray into photography and videography after a bold move to Los Angeles, a city where I initially had zero ties. My distinct style is characterized by monochrome imagery, focusing on capturing raw emotions and details without the distraction of color. This same principle extends to my videography, making my dual offering of both stills and motion a unique asset to clients.
Every shot I take, be it a photo or video, is minimalistically edited to preserve its authenticity and treated as a standalone piece of art, ready to be framed. The trust and rapport I’ve built with my clientele is a testament to my commitment to capturing genuine moments with artistic integrity.
I’m not just capturing images; I’m immortalizing memories, emotions, and stories. With every click, I am dedicated to preserving genuine moments with my artistic integrity.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the pinnacle of being a creative is the intimate bond I can form with others through my work. When my work resonates with someone, it feels like a silent, profound conversation. I cherish the moments when my art speaks volumes to a client, and when someone feels seen or understood by my creations, it validates the passion I pour into my craft. It’s more than just aesthetics; it’s about connection and shared humanity.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. At the core of my creative journey is a vision that extends beyond the confines of traditional photography. I aspire to be considered a world-renowned artist. My ultimate goal is to curate a gallery where I can showcase my work, offering viewers an immersive experience into my artistic universe. Every photograph, every piece I create, is a step toward that dream. I want the world to not only see my art but to feel it, to engage with it, and to recognize the universal narratives and emotions weaved into each piece. This gallery would be a testament to my evolution as an artist and a beacon for all that art can achieve in bridging our shared human experiences.
