We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michael & Aimee Fisher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michael & Aimee below.
Alright, Michael & Aimee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
We came up with the name WindSong Farm while we were in the process of planning & dreaming of our venue. We spent several hours walking our fields trying to find the perfect spot for the barn to be built. There are so many beautiful trees on property and we knew we wanted the barn nestled among them, almost as if the barn had been here for 100 years and the trees grew up around it. After spending time in the fields you can’t help but stop and listen to the trees blowing in the wind, and then you start to hear all the different “Songs” the “Wind” is playing through the leaves, and that is how we came up with our name WindSong Farm.
Michael & Aimee , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, we are Michael & Aimee Fisher, owners of WindSong Farm Weddings & Events in Burns, TN. Our dream has been to share the love we have for our property with others by providing a private countryside retreat for couples to get married and enjoy their special day with family & friends. We are a small family business and it is us who you’ll see on your wedding day. We take pride in our attention to detail to ensure our sweet couples have the best day ever!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Basic Sales 101- Michael & I both come from a sales background. We learned quick that while you do need to sell yourself & your venue in tours, it stops there. We do not do pressure sales. I truly believe there’s a venue for every couple and when the venue “speaks” to the couple-that’s when they know it’s the right one to book.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Our website, social media, & word of mouth. We’ll be celebrating our 4 year anniversary this May, so we are getting more and more client referrals from vendors, our couples, family and friends who have attended a wedding here, etc… We appreciate it greatly when someone recommends us! We relaunched our website last year, and we work hard at keeping it current. We work with an amazing marketing company that also helps us keep up with our SEO’s so we get a lot of direct traffic from it.
