We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Micah Renee . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Micah below.
Micah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our company name is the mission which is to EXUDE YOU. What that means is to exude or pour out all of your talents. No one is limited to just one thing, you can embark and explore your inner self to really exude your full potential over here. So yes we manage models as a base front but we help our models branch off into actors, dancers, creative directors, hair stylists, makeup artists, stylist and much more. Whatever they are capable of we promote that and that’s what i love most about our company as a whole.
Micah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Micah Reneé I’m 23 years old (Gemini, best sign btw) and I’m from philadelphia Pennsylvania born and raised. I started my creative journey as a dancer i have been dancing since i was 3 years old and i stopped dancing in all those genres (ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, tap, modern dance, contemporary, ballet on pointe, hip hop and African dance) by the age of 19 and just continued to do heels dancing in college in my modeling org that i was Vice President of! That org called Precise at west Chester university helped me build up my confidence in modeling. I started to take modeling seriously in 2018 my freshman year of college. My first photoshoot was in my last year of high school and it was a hair shoot and it wasn’t bad but my confidence level was in the gutter and i did not like how i looked. I didn’t do a shoot again until freshman year of college when another hair brand in my org asked me to be a hair model for her shoot and i loved itttt! Such a full circle moment it’s like the universe wanted me to just give it another try. After that i networked with the brands in our org fashion show and they started booking me outside of school for their shoots. I started building up my portfolio nonstop that year, even though it was the same type of content and clothing, my portfolio was still getting pretty thick to be my first real year in modeling. Fast forward to now with so many type of work in my portfolio ranging from street wear to commercial to editorial to high fashion i am very proud of how far i came in this industry. This consistency showed my followers on social media that somehow i was capable of being a teacher because so many people daily say they wish they could learn from me. At that point i was already thinking about having my own agency one day but not this soon at all. I didn’t think i was capable to even be a teacher or that big of a business owner. I thought i wouldn’t be a great person to learn from because im new to this and because I’m not a signed model. But when i made a post about who all would want to learn from me and what would they like to learn and receiving so many responses, i was like it’s time micah! Where i went wrong was starting my modeling agency with a friend. And now i know to not to do business with everyone or with people that you haven’t known for a long time. Now that i have started over and now created Exude You Agency, i was able to build everything up from the bottom and bring on worthy partners (my lovely creative boyfriend) to help me build my business up the proper way in almost a year now! Our business provides a multitude of things. We provide professional and talented models, dancers, actors for people to book for their businesses. We provide creative direction and photography packages where me and my partner will come up with a concept for you, source a location, provide models if needed, pose you or the models on set, take and edit the pictures, and also create reels for social media because that is the best business grower. We make being on set no matter where we are very fun and enjoyable. I have worked with photographers that are so quiet and don’t make set life and experience and more like a job that just needs to be done if that make sense. Because even though it is, it’s still what we love at the end of the day so let’s make it enjoyable every time right?!
When it comes to client problems i have not met someone that has brought me great difficulty or irritation. Whenever there is a minor hiccup it stays minor because i always have a plan B. I can’t just jump into something that i was booked for and not have a plan b. Wether I’m the model or the director of the shoot I’m going to figure out by any means how the problem will get solved on set immediately. I feel like that’s what set me apart from others because i don’t let the negatives even effect me. Like i said i used to be a dancer and you have to have a certain way of handling the negativity because sometimes it does get like that in the dance world. So having that mental strength definitely helps me now with handling things or bad news of any sort.
I’m most proud of how I’m progressing in such a short time. I want everyone to know that I’m a god fearing woman and i always have god in everything i do and if your my future Client we gonna talk about god at least once on set! To my future clients i also want you to know that i am very great at posing i get that compliment a lot and that’s because i incorporate dance into my poses. So when it comes to any client i know exactly what type of poses to give to them that can be easy but effective for my newbies or over the top and help challenge my experienced clients and models. At Exude You Agency we are not basic we push ourselves to be the best we can be, because you can do ANYTHING with practice and the drive for it! And as long as you have passion in it you can become the greatest. Nothing in this life is limited reach for the stars and don’t stop until you do! And if you don’t take away anything from this please take away that statement right that to never stop trying!
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My business partner and life partner name is Craig. I met Craig in freshman year of college and it was a very random exchange of words because he was in my dorm room on my bed with all these other people talking to my roommate and I’m like….um roommate who are these people and who are you on my bed! And he told me that we were gonna be together one day straight like that. Of course that didn’t happen until a year later because what girl would immediately fall in love off that sentence from a stranger??? It’s been almost 4 years now with Craig and he has helped me with any business path i took. I used to do hair and he use to take me to my clients homes to help me do hair. I sold clothes and he used to take the pictures and help me promote my business and always take me to the post office to help deliver packages. I did makeup and he bought all my makeup for me and told people all over to come get their makeup done by me. And when i get booked for photoshoots he always takes me to each booking, records me and sometimes suggests ideas and poses to the people in the room. But When it came to the agency i didn’t think he would want to help with that and i wish i had an explanation as to why he wasn’t my first choice to start this business with. Sadly i made the worst mistake by working with someone else that didn’t show half the loyalty he shows because she was a model and he wasn’t. But thankfully he is the best partner a girl can ask for because he has helped the agency flourish in so many ways with his charm, his sternness when it comes to people trying to get over on me or use me, his business ideas, his marketing strategies, and his love for just helping people pose (which might’ve stemmed from me lol). All in all we make the best team and i wouldn’t want to have it any other way, i trust him with my life.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy now a days is POSTING YOUR WORK! I swear by this because i post every and anything. People like to see what you have done so far and who you worked with. I can’t stress enough that everything is always about who you know and not what you really do all the time. I get clients saying that someone i worked with before sent them to me. That’s because i make sure my clients have a good time and also make them feel like the money they spent was worth every penny. I post how i set up things on set, who i work with, me posing people, me doing hair and makeup for shoots, me making clients laugh, me asking them to rate their experience on camera, and also just showing them how good they look because obviously i helped them look so spectacularrrr! When it comes to me modeling, i always post myself getting ready for the shoot, what i do during the shoot and my posing process, showing off the brand in shooting for and speaking highly of them and then i ALWAYS tag everyone that’s involved. If you are a creative and you don’t do that…your a hater. Simple. So always post your work because that will bring you lots of engagement on social media, help people get to know who you are just a bit before meeting you, and also help them see your work to place their booking for the future!
