We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Micaela Palacios a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Micaela , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
How I walked away from everything only to find myself.
In March 2020, I was hitting rock bottom in my life. I was fresh off of a divorce, my mother was terminally ill and I was beginning to outgrow my corporate career after 16 years in HR. Then while the world was shutting down with Covid, I received a devastating diagnosis: Breast Cancer. Sitting in the parking lot of my doctor’s office, I heard a voice whisper, “one day you are going to share your story and you’re going to inspire others to heal.” Intuitively, I felt Spirit tapping me on the shoulder saying, “Hey, You! Wake up! This has got to change.”
My diagnosis led me on a profound inward journey. I immersed myself in deep healing work, addressing not only my emotional wounds from infertility, divorce, and illness but also the colonial, patriarchal, and religious wounds related to my identity as a Latina woman. I had crafted a life based on external expectations rather than my true soul’s desires.
When I finished my treatment, I knew that I needed to make serious changes to my life. In November 2022, I left my full time job to pursue energy work and women’s transformational healing. I knew without a a shadow that it is my soul’s mission to create sacred spaces where women can engage in deep healing work and craft a soulfully authentic, heart-centered life.
Now I wake up everyday excited to begin the day knowing that I’m living in alignment with my soul’s mission and that I get walk women home to themselves.
Micaela , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a teacher and guide on the Divine Feminine journey. As a trained Reiki Master and clairvoyant, certified Women’s Circle Facilitator, I create sacred spaces where women can heal and reconnect with their divine essence.
Through personalized 1:1 sessions, customized mentorship programs, and transformative group workshops, I am passionate about supporting women in their spiritual growth. My work is designed to help women reclaim their power and align with their true selves.
Before embracing my life’s mission of guiding women on their spiritual paths, I as a Human Resources leader. With a strong background in coaching executives and leaders, I specialized in team workshops using psychometric tools such as Carl Jung’s “Insights Discovery,” enhancing team effectiveness and achieving organizational goals.
I am driven by a belief in healing from the wounds of patriarchy and colonialism. I envision a world where ancient feminine wisdom is woven back into our daily lives, empowering women to liberate and reclaim the feminine, thus creating a new paradigm for living.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned is to follow what you love, not the money. I was fortunate to have a success in HR for as long as I did, but if I’m being honest I got a business degree and MBA and entered corporate life because it’s what I thought I was “supposed” to do. I am first generation American, the child of Nicaraguans and it was heavily messaged that I was go to college and enter corporate life. That was the American dream. I had to unlearn the story that education is everything and that making your parents proud is not an obligation. There came a day where I realized I had been playing a role in THEIR story, not mine. Walking away from that career and pursuing energy work/women’s transformational work has allowed to reclaim a part of myself that had been dormant.
The lesson: career paths are endless. You don’t need a degree or a corporate job to make an impact. There are millions of paths to your life purpose and the sky is the limit as to how you get there.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I decided to leave the corporate life, I received a lot of skepticism from family and friends. I was successful, made a good salary and was on an upward trajectory in my career. Not many could understand why I would make a complete 180 to pursue something that wasn’t as “stable” and completely “woo woo.” The reality was deep down I was an eclectic bohemian mystical girl and I had just never let her come out and roam free.
Somewhere deep in my bones, I knew that if I stayed in my job I would get sick again and so, I just tuned everyone out. Cancer (or any life threatening illness) has a way of changing your perspective. I realized that life is short and being true to YOURSELF is what matters. Living authentically and in your truth is what matters. Only your opinion matters.
