Miasha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

In 2012 I experienced PPCM ( Peripartum Cardiomyopathy) in which I experienced Cardiac Arrest having my heart stop for 10 minutes. I ended up on a ventilator for three days unable to breath on my own. When I awakened and went home after seven days in the ICU, I began to think about the health of others, my community and the prevalence of Diabetes and heart associated issues. I thought about how people love to indulge in deserts, especially cupcakes. It came to me. Why not make cupcakes and cakes that are both healthy and delicious. This is when Herbal Delitz Cupcakes was born. It felt good to be able to offer a variety of options such as Vegan and Sugar Free Cupcakes.

I am a mother of six, wife, entreprenuer, Pastor, 3x best selling author, and Executive Producer of the short film “ Miracles Of Life..” This business was inspired in 2012 from my near death experience..
What sets Herbal Delitz Cupcakes apart is the fact that I am a nurse, know the issues that plague the community, and can base my products and services around that. Herbal Delitz Cupcakes allows individuals in the community to make healthier choices promoting better and healthier choices. I feel proud knowing that I am contributing to lowering the health disparities in the community and helping others live longer and more productive lives.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Keeping a connection with clients is very important. I do this in several ways. Utilizing emails has been effective through Mail Chimp and other sources. Another way is to send messages, stay connected on Social media through messenger, and sometimes a simple phone call is worth a thousand words. All of these things allow your clients to feel your connection is about more than just a sale. As a business owner you have to have a passion and actually care.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

In the beginning of business as you can imagine sales are extremely slow and you wonder if you made the right decision. I had been in business for about 2 months and began to get discouraged because of sales/revenue. I was at the point of giving up when I received a large order. Not only did I receive a large order I was made aware of the reason for the order was that a previous client has spoken so highly of Herbal Delitz Cupcakes.
