Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Miami Beat Wave. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Miami Beat Wave, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I would have to say I knew I wanted to have a career in music by the time I was in High School. Approximately 11th grade. Before that I had been in band and competitions for music theory as well as I was taught the piano from a young age. My grandmother started my love for music but professionally I’d say it was 11th grade.
I built a home studio inside my bedroom and started recording talent from around my neighborhood. Mostly rappers and one rock band. A couple of friends helped me with building a booth inside the room as well as setting up a little desk with some speakers and a drum machine. Literally right there next to my bed that I slept in.
From there on I knew I was going to be professionally recording music for the rest of my life. Funny story is we built the booth and never thought to put a light in it since we were so worried about sound. My first couple of sessions in my room I used a flashlight stuck into the roof of the booth!!! Amazing moments!!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
More than ever, versatility pays. As the lines between musical styles continue to disappear, people are demanding more from the music industry. Today a hit needs to have a little of everything in it, and in turn, hit makers need to be capable of doing a little of everything. Versatility is one of the many characteristics that sets Miami Beat Wave apart from competitors. MBW productions are diverse, cutting edge, boundless, and go beyond any singular genre.
Production credits and collaborations include SLIGHT MODIFICATION and #B2B, featuring artists such as Dead Prez, N.O.R.E., ¡Mayday!, Skyzoo, Layne Harper, Ras Kass, Locos por Juana and Quest. Miami Beat Wave also produced a tune for Pitbull, Flo Rida, Brisco, Gunplay, on Dj Efn’s “Diggin In The Tapes”. Add to the roster tracks such as “Church Road” Ft. Pos of De La Soul on Wrekonize album “The War Within” and “My Own Parade” on the recently released ¡MURSDAY! album, both achieving placement in the Top 200 on The American Billboard Charts.
Miami Beat Wave can produce hard-boiled Hip Hop tracks as with Grammy-nominated rapper Omniscient, balls-out rock tunes like “Guess You Forgot” with self-described ‘urban rocker’ David Correy, and radio ready pop stompers with the smooth Scotty Boi & Rick Ross as displayed in the single “So Fresh”.
After linking up with German producer team “Crushboys” to create new singles, Miami Beat Wave’s EDM tracks swiftly moved beyond a local level to an international level. The first 2 singles MBW created alongside of Crushboys, “In Your Rhythm feat. Miami Beat Wave” and “In The Vip Ft. 2nyce” made it to the DDC Top 40 Charts in Germany with “In your Rhythm” placing at #49 and “In The Vip” hitting #18.
In addition to producing, Miami Beat Wave made their bones recording and mixing a slew of projects for artists such as Dangerflow (Miami Heat’s Band), Suenalo, Dead Prez & Dj Drama “Gangsta Grillz”, as well as hip hop artists Talib Kweli and ArtOfficial. MBW has even ventured into the video game and television market, contributing their trademark sound to Hudson Entertainment/Gaijinworks’, Nintendo DS, Title Miami Law, and Solefly/Jordan shoe commercial. 305 Magazine/The305.com awarded MBW “Producers Of The Year”, and you can find their “Neighbors” Mixtape on Pepsi.com
MBW’s inspiration comes from yesteryear’s classic jewels and obscure alike, the cream of today’s crop, and they infuse it all into their interpretation of music’s future. Miami Beat Wave is nothing less than a one-stop shop for everything musically current.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The whole story!!! Let’s see, there is so many since the industry is a very difficult place to come up in. Seems like you are fighting to make it everyday and everyone says you can’t do it constantly that it almost becomes second nature and something you strive off. They told me I would never be on the billboard charts and I’ve done it 3 times now!!
I’d say in 2020 I had lost my grandmother along with some other friend and my personal life was at a all time low. The people around me made me feel like I shouldn’t do music anymore but instead I grew stronger and got back on my feet! The next year I produced a #2 chart topping iTunes album as wells got 2021 “Producer of the Year” at the Miami Entertainment awards. I just didn’t stop and everything changed!!!
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Love them! Love the fact that we can sell our art now without a middle man and straight to our consumers and fans!! This will change everything. I will be releasing a NFT project with my close friend and amazing artist Roc Sol.
We have already done 2 theme songs for huge communites in the NFT world “Bored Ape Yacht Club” & “Alien Frens” already!! Shout out to everyone who loved our music in those communities!! I Also own a couple of my own NFT’s including an Alien Frens, hi Frens!! Shout out to Roc Sol, Don Justiniani & Post for putting me in the NFT Game!
