We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mia Sibert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mia, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Several years ago, I believe it was 13 years ago. I saw beautifully carved watermelons on a cruise. At that time I was pregnant with my first son, Kingsten. I told myself when I get home, I want to try this. Well it seemed so easy at the time, but it wasn’t. But the more I posted my creations on social media, the more people wanted it. Soon I had a name for my “new sought out business,’ Royalty Kreations, inspired by a King. The more I created, the more seriously I took my work. I noticed my creations changed. And the more people came for what I love to do. And that is create edible art with the use of fruit.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a self taught artist located in Fountain Inn, SC. I moved to the upstate area 3 years ago because I was traveling so use to the upstate multiple times a week to do large fruit tables for weddings and cooperate events. I have two sons Kingsten and Brysen who motivate me daily. Royalty Kreations was inspired by Kingsten and when I added charcuterie to the business, I named it Brysen’s Charcuterie. I have appeared on our local news 3 times, showcasing my work. I have no culinary background just a love of what I do. My motto is people eat with their eyes first and they can taste the love in every creation I make. What sets me apart is that I challenge myself daily. Im not consumed with those around me. I want to be better than I was yesterday, I recently went to Dallas to accept an award and recognization from the National Black Chefs Association. I offer classes to the public to teach charcuterie both virtual and in person. Being a entrepreneur requires so much discipline and self control. There are many days I want to take a break or not create content or products yet there are the days I prayed for. I want to leave a legacy for my sons.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helps my reputation is that Im strive to always be consistent. Im big on customer service and the overall experience for my customers from ordering to pickup. Word of mouth and reviews is another thing that helps my reputation in the industry. We all know people will share a bad experience but a great experience are told way more. My clients mention me in rooms I’ve never set foot in and im forever grateful for them.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a great audience on social media is key. Finding your target audience, posting consistently, engaging on post and have a business page that displays photos are important. A website or booking like is great as well.
