Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mia Proctor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Growing up, people would gravitate to me for advice, and I was always considered the friend with the best answer. Helping people has always been important to me because it can have an impact on someone’s life. I believe in the shamanic word ayni, which means reciprocity. Every job I worked had the purpose of leading me to the career I am now in. In one of my last jobs, I was stressed, had nightmares, and overworked. Then I decided to start my holistic business part-time, which turned into full-time eight months later. In the spring of 2022, I started to get sick with vertigo, bell palsy, and frequent doctor and hospital visits. After having a brain MRI, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Two days later, I was in the hospital for a MS flare-up. In the hospital, I decided to get serious about my health, which caused me to decide to work full-time with my business. I knew it was a big risk to become a full-time business owner after 8 months of opening my business, but I knew my health and business had a beautiful connection to my purpose. Ever since I made the decision. My business has blossomed beautifully with helping more people, new services, and a better understanding of myself. Starting a business has helped me learn lessons at a faster rate, connect with others, and continue learning about myself. In April of 2024, I had my yearly MRI scan of my brain and spine. I am happy to say that some of the lesions have decreased in size or are completely healed. This was huge because in 2023 I had a serious flare-up, which caused me to be in the hospital for 5 days, and the results of my MRI showed more lesions in my brain and now my spine. I believe the reiki, sound healing, and, most importantly, my resilience to heal have helped with my healing journey. My advice is that no matter what, believe in yourself because nothing is impossible and opportunities will always appear.

Mia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Mia, a nature-loving woman who loves to bring joy into her life every day. I own a holistic business, Mia Moon Creations, which I started in 2021 to share my gifts with others and guide them on their healing journey. I offer reiki, sound healing, meditations, reiki courses, shamanic sessions, and workshops. In 2017, I had an awakening to the truth about life, which caused my psychic gifts to awaken. After years of trying to turn them off, I decided to love them by starting my own business. What makes me different is my ability to be my authentic self. What I’ve realized is that people know if you’re fake or genuine, so I’ve always learned to be myself in everything in life. In doing that, it inspires people to become their best selves. In the ups and downs of life, it’s so important to keep going, no matter what, because everything is a learning experience. Clients get to see that I am healing in my own way, which encourages them to do the same. I am proud of my resilience to continue with my business after health issues, fear, and believing in myself even if I didn’t have the support. At a very young age, I learned to be myself, even if I was different from everyone else. I am excited for what the future holds for me.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2019, I rejoined taekwondo to fulfill my childhood dream of receiving my black belt. Three months before my black belt test, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Hearing the news broke my heart because I was so close to accomplishing my dream. The fire within me gave me the drive to continue karate. After hard work, resilience, and support from others, I passed my black belt test. This was a pivotal moment in my life because it pushed me physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to really understand myself. Six months later, I tested for my first-degree black belt. A moment in my life I will never forget.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I have no regrets about choosing the holistic field as my career. It has helped me grow so much, both personally and professionally. I know there are other modalities I would like to learn that connect with my practice.I love to study numerology and astrology; reading my personal charts shows that I was always meant to be in this field. Lastly, my family lineage comes from farmers, shamans, healers, and herbalists. I am a manifestation of my ancestors prayers.
