We recently connected with Mia Martin and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, thanks for joining us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
The most innovative thing that I have done in my career is taking inventory of my transferable skills and aligning them with a target audience that could benefit from my offerings. When I started my digital marketing agency, Modern Créatif, many were still familiarizing themselves with owning their own brand and leveraging their social media profiles for increased exposure. I quickly recognized that there was an opportunity to show executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs how to leverage social media to own their narrative and brand online. We hosted workshops so that we could reach the masses and taught thousands how to craft social media content and gain a better understanding of Digital Marketing. When I was able to showcase the before and after stories of those that owned their brand, my customer base significantly increased. At Modern Créatif, we have a special formula for helping professionals identify their transferrable skills, what they want to be know for, and how to get it in front of the right audience.
By being honest with myself about what I do best and enjoy, it enabled me to share that gift with others so that they too could best position their brands online and offline.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I had a 14-year career with a Fortune 100 CPG manufacturer. During my leadership, I sold to B2B accounts while training and developing sales organizations through Business Process and Technology. I have an MBA in Global Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Management.
In 2013, I founded Modern Créatif, a premium Training and Consulting agency. Modern Créatif has provided training, consulting, and services for corporations, executives, and consultants. The company areas of expertise are Digital Marketing, Branding, Business Strategy, and UX Research. My experience with the training and development of executives along with my strong network differentiate myself and Modern Créatif in a market that is often focused only on deliverables. Modern Créatif starts with strategy and drives results through effective collaboration with our clients.
In addition to training and consulting, I am passionate about educating high-caliber professionals and organizations about the importance of financial literacy, executive and organizational protection, and worksite benefits. I am a licensed Life & Health insurance broker through GAMSG with access to the best carriers and resources. I also has a new TV Show titled “Financial Freedom”. The show is designed to bring educational resources to help better position professionals, entrepreneurs, and families.
In addition to my business efforts, I am a Board Member of the Kettering Executive Network, volunteer for the Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Project. Consultant to Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, former Volunteer Director of Marketing SCORE Atlanta, and member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot during the pandemic and get serious about leveraging my network. During that time, many professionals were going through career changes, making transitions into entrepreneurship, and trying to scale their companies. I quickly started making phone calls to ask my network what they needed. I helped coach professionals through their strategies and next steps so that they could keep their companies thriving as well as boost the connection of their professional brand. During this time, I also had to face the reality of access to funding for entrepreneurs. Oftentimes, a stigma is placed around individuals that choose to have multiple businesses because it may showcase that you aren’t serious about your company. I was so serious about my company, that I stopped worrying about what others may say about me having two business ventures and went for it. By doing so, I was able to keep both companies afloat. That was a learning lesson to always follow my intuition because I know what’s is best for myself and my companies. My advice to anyone working on your business would be to do what it takes even if it means picking up extra work. Don’t stand by and wait for someone to save you. Just go for it, stay focused on your business plan, be ready to pivot, and provide amazing service that goes above and beyond.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation within the market was finding multiple platforms to represent my company while solving a problem. Modern Créatif is a Training and Consulting firm that offers Executive Development, Digital Marketing, and more. Therefore, I went to where my audience was and gave them what they need by providing helpful workshops, webinars, complimentary learning online schools, resources and more. I also leveraged professional speaking on panels, podcasts, etc. to stay connected with my target audience. In recognizing that all could not always purchase the services that Modern Créatif offers, I also volunteered with many organizations to share resources and expertise that could be leveraged to enhanced brand growth and positioning.
Providing high-quality customer service, maintaining professionalism, and listening to my customers has also played a major role in building my reputation.
