Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mia F. Campagna. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mia F., thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
What you have today could be lost forever, so you might as well go all-in & do what you love! Also, protect your health at all costs & don’t put your life on the line for anyone that doesn’t give a fig about you. Go where you are wanted, leave behind that which does not serve you, & take a break when you’re tired. I can’t stress that enough!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I first began pursuing a career in Voice Acting & Music, I was struggling. I had sustained a debilitating spine injury at work & spent five years in legal purgatory. Post-surgery, I was left jobless, penniless, & directionless. My incredible fiancé, Brian Bossin supported & cared for me throughout but times were tough & I wanted to make my own way in a safer, more empowering environment. I had to start over, now partially disabled. so my options were devastatingly limited.
I began brainstorming; what other skills did I have & how could I apply them to a new career? I’d studied Acting & Singing my whole life but never pursued either in earnest. Well, do what you can with what you’ve got as they say! So I began taking Voice Acting classes, singing at Hollywood jams, doing session-singing, odd jobs, & touring with a Pink Floyd tribute act. Music wasn’t making me enough money to survive & the constant rejection in the voiceover realm was wearing me down. I was auditioning like crazy but not booking. Zilch. Zero. Nada. I considered giving up numerous times but then I met Mimi Maynard and she changed my life forever! I took her classes & we really hit it off. It wasn’t long before she cast me in a Netflix English Dub of ‘Love Is Blind: Brazil’ & the rest is history! Mimi gave me a chance & believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. I love Mimi & Brian so much. I will forever be in their debt.
What sets me apart & makes me proud is that I didn’t give up when my world went up in flames. I transformed the flames that destroyed me into an ardent passion to ignite my new careers. I always come prepared, I work quickly, & I’m great at what I do! I think that’s why I get so excited before every session… I’m just so happy to be there, doing what I love, no matter the project. Five years of my life were stolen from me, so I’ve got some catching up to do but don’t we all in some way? You can check me out as Sophia in ‘Visitors’ on HBO Max, as Georgina in ‘I Am Georgina’ on Neflix, & as Aurelia Cantuti in ‘The King Who Never Was’, just to name a few.
No matter what you’re going through, keep going… To quote the great Jimmy Cliff, “You can get it if you really want but you must try, try and try, try and try… You’ll succeed at last!”

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to act, sing, & star in an animated feature film! Preferably as a tough, independent person whom uplifts those around them but I’d love any role… A loathsome villain, a magical non-binary alien, or a comedic animal buffoon. I love it all! Long-term, I want to complete my animated feature script & get it picked up. It’s a science fiction noir adventure about an orphan stranded on a foreign planet after Earth becomes uninhabitable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of acting & music is helping people.
I wrote a song called ‘Bella Solitudine’ (Beautiful Loneliness) for a Titmouse Inc animated short called, ‘Pinched’. I was shocked when I went to the comments section & everyone was asking where they could listen to it. They love my song?! I was over the moon despite realizing that I wasn’t credited. I immediately posted the song on Soundcloud & got 40,000 plays in a matter of weeks. I considered charging for downloads until I read the comments… Numerous people said that my song stopped them from committing suicide because it gave them hope. My song gave them hope & saved their lives. It was surreal. I cried so much as I was reading the Soundcloud comments. That has, unequivocally been the most rewarding experience of my entire creative life.
