We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mia Elder-Scott a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

My parents are truly my everything. The lessons they’ve instilled in me and the values they’ve emphasized have profoundly shaped who I am today. They’ve always believed in the power of kindness, teaching me to “treat others the way you want to be treated,” which has laid the foundation for how I interact with everyone. Their encouragement, epitomized by the saying “anything you put your mind to, you can do,” has helped me push through self-doubt and pursue my passions. And perhaps most importantly, they instilled in me the principle of “always keep God first in every situation,” which has guided me through both challenges and successes.

My parents made countless sacrifices for my siblings and me, providing us with opportunities they didn’t have. Their unwavering support has always been my anchor. When I first contemplated starting my makeup content journey, I was filled with nerves and uncertainty about even recording a video, let alone launching a page. However, when I shared my idea with my parents, their reaction was everything I needed. They were not only supportive but also asked, “Well, what are you waiting for?” Their belief in me fueled my confidence and gave me the push I needed to take that leap.

Today, I carry those lessons with me, and they continue to inspire my work and interactions with my audience. I know without a doubt that I am who I am because of my parents, and their guidance has empowered me to chase my dreams with confidence and grace.

Makeup enthusiast, creative content creator, and lover of all things beauty—I’m your makeup bestie, Mia Nicole! As a small-town girl living just outside of Atlanta, I’ve dedicated myself to creating a space where my community feels encouraged and excited about makeup, beauty, and self-expression.

What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built around my passion for makeup. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see people come together, share their stories, and support one another in their beauty journeys. I aim to foster an environment where everyone feels safe to experiment and express themselves creatively, regardless of their skill level.

My primary goal is to inspire confidence in others as they navigate their makeup journey. What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, especially in the beauty space, is when someone shares that they applied something I taught in one of my videos or that they bought a product I recommended. It’s such a joy to hear those stories! I absolutely love when I meet someone in public, and we end up having the best conversation about makeup while browsing the aisles of Sephora or Ulta.

There’s often a little doubt about whether people are actually trying out the techniques I share or testing out the products I rave about. But then, just one comment, message, or interaction can completely shift that mindset. Knowing that I’ve made a difference in someone’s beauty journey is incredibly fulfilling and reminds me why I started creating content in the first place. It’s all about building those connections and fostering a community where we can celebrate our love for makeup together!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Honestly, my primary goal is to challenge myself and see just how far my hard work can take me. However, I want to make sure that I’m aligned with what God wants for me in this journey. So, I’m focused on having fun and being my authentic self every step of the way. I truly believe that wherever this path leads me is exactly where I’m supposed to be. Embracing this mindset allows me to enjoy the process while striving for growth and creativity in everything I do.
