We were lucky to catch up with Meshonda France recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Meshonda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I have always loved fashion from a very young age, well before social media even existed. Fast forward to how I became a Fashion Blogger and Influencer, It all started when I created an Instagram account. I would post pictures of me in my outfit of the day of what I was wearing to work which at the time, I was expected to wear professional attire, working in a courtroom setting. I would take pictures and post them to my IG account and I would always get overwhelming likes, compliments, and comments asking where the outfit was from. I then started tagging the brands on the posts from which the clothing items came from and brands began reaching out to me to do gifting collaborations which eventually led to paid collaborations for posting on my social media page. I also created a blog page: simplymeshonda.com and I use this page to not only showcase my outfits but also to narrate a story of how to style the outfit while linking direct links to conveniently purchase the items.

Meshonda , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

This further led to the creation of Simply Meshonda Consulting, LLC where I help brands tell a story.through relevant content, I am able to connect with a diverse
 community by creating posts that include videos, images, reels, and stories that are 
highlighted on my social platforms. I also offer 1 on 1 consults to assist any inspiring bloggers or influencers with building their brand. I am also a personal shopper and stylist.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

In 2020 during the height of Covid, I lost my job of over 16 years. I was devastated and didn’t know what the next step would be for me. This unexpected situation allowed me to devote more time to my passion for fashion and this is when I was able to devote all of my time to Simply Meshonda and it flourished.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I had to stay the course after losing my job and recently been divorced. I started posting more than just on my IG. I added TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter and I began to get brand deals on those platforms as well. It didn’t happen overnight but I stayed the course and I kept a positive mindset while continuing to work on my brand while continuing to reach out to brands and also applying for collaborations through 3rd party influencer portals.
