We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meshanda King a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Meshanda , thanks for joining us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned came from a 9-to-5 job that I thought would be my “forever” role. I loved the projects, enjoyed the team, and thought it was where I was going to be. Then, as life often does, things shifted. Leadership changed, the dynamics weren’t the same, and suddenly, the space that once felt comfortable didn’t fit anymore.
At first, I fought the change, clinging to the idea that I had to make it work because I was so invested. But eventually, I realized: the only thing constant is change. Jobs, coworkers, opportunities, they come and go, and that’s okay. What stayed with me, were the lessons: the value of creative problem-solving, the power of collaboration, and the resilience I built during tough times.
That experience taught me how to love something fully while knowing when it’s time to let it go. Now, as an entrepreneur and creator, I lean into that lesson daily. I can pour my energy into my business, be excited about every piece I create, but I don’t hold onto things too tightly. If a design doesn’t resonate, a market doesn’t go as planned, or if something shifts, I don’t see it as a failure. It’s just part of the flow.
Evolution is natural and necessary. And as long as I keep showing up authentically and learning from each experience, I’ll be exactly where I’m supposed to be, no matter what’s changing around me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
DualityClique is all about celebrating balance and individuality through jewelry and other uniquely curated items. The journey here has been a mix of passion, curiosity, and a deep love for creating pieces that aren’t just beautiful but meaningful, too. It all started when I realized how much power there is in self-expression. Jewelry became more than an accessory—it turned into a way to hold onto affirmations and healing. It eventually grew into DualityClique, where every piece is crafted to empower, heal, or simply remind you of your unique magic.
Beyond the jewelry, I also offer Intuitive Listening Sessions, creating a safe space for real connection and support. If you need guidance, a fresh perspective, or even an oracle card pull, it’s about holding space for you. What sets DualityClique apart? I believe it’s the heart that goes into everything. This isn’t just a brand, it’s a community built on authenticity and care.
I’m most proud of the connections built with our community. Hearing how a bracelet became apart of someone’s daily wardrobe or how a listening session brought clarity, that’s what lights me up. If there’s one thing I want folks to know about DualityClique, it’s that everything is rooted in love and the belief that we all have the power to grow, heal, and shine.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Reading The Artist’s Way has been a game-changer. It taught me how to embrace creativity as a practice, not just a talent, and how to lean into inspiration even when self-doubt creeps in. Writing my morning pages helped me focus and it’s been a powerful reminder to trust the process, honor my voice, and let creativity flow freely in everything I do.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society can best support artists and creatives by truly valuing their work, not just as “extras” but as essential. Most importantly, celebrate and support creativity in everyday life! Buy local, share artists/creators work, and let them know their contributions matter.
