We recently connected with Mesha Hutchinson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
Ultimately, I’d love for people to remember me for the difference I’ve made within education. My ultimate goal is to support parents with knowing how to foster their children at school. I often here parents say to children “be bold, be confident and show them how great you’re are”. Well I want parents to feel the same way. There are so many articles on the importance of parental – teacher relationships, but what’s really being done to aid this? I’ve found that parents are (sometimes) reluctant to speak or ask questions, as they’re concerned on how they’ll be perceived. However I aspire to create a platform/community which allows parents to feel comfortable at that parents’ evening table and exert their confidence. This will make such a huge difference to the youth because they’ll be able to see how many adults are actually on their team and want to see them succeed. I’d love for people to one day say “Wow Miss Hutchinson really made that difference within education and has helped so many families”.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I’m Miss Hutchinson, I’m 24 years old, I qualified in 2021 and have been teaching for 2 years now. Teaching has always been a passion of mine and I worked extremely hard to pursue my career. It involved a lot of sleepless nights, early mornings and determination. I recently launched WeAchieve Tutoring which is a company designed to support both children and parents. I believe what sets me apart from others is that teaching is a passion not a hobby and that I’m here to support both parents and children. I love seeing children flourish and make progress. I think it’s beautiful seeing that look in their faces when they hear an adult say “I’m so proud of you”.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I originally left my school to study else where. At the time I thought that studying in a upper class area would mean I’d achieve better. I immediately knew It wasn’t for me, I was battling my own thoughts and struggling to find myself during a crucial part in my studies to achieve my qualification. I moved back to my original school and didn’t perform as well as I know I could have. I began to have seizures, suffer from migraines and as a result lost a ridiculous amount of weight. From a child I always knew I’d made a name for myself so I couldn’t understand why this was happening to me. I then had a careers meeting with a guy who was the CEO of a well-known company at the time. He asked me my aspirations and immediately told me “look at the position you’re in and think a bit more realistically because the chances of this happening are slim”. As a teenager I was heavily impressionable and little did he know there were already people close to home regularly dismissing the idea of me going into education. Despite the poor health, doubts, and disbelief from others, for the next 4 years. I worked endlessly to put myself in the position I am in today, and believe me this is still only the beginning.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
It may sound cliché but be yourself! Your true clients are going to draw to you for who you are regardless. People want to be able to see that authenticity and passion and this won’t come through unless you’re being 100% you. Of course study your field and know your market, but no matter what you do make it yours because at the end of the day that’s what makes it special.
