Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Merveil Muamba . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Merveil, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I want to start off by thanking you for another opportunity to be featured on Your platform, I truly appreciate it. Despite the journey being difficult, I’ve learned that I have to falling in love with the process. At the beginning, I wanted everything to go my way but I’ve had to accept that my blessings will come in divine timing.
Merveil, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
How I got into the modeling industry is honestly by accident but then again I believe everything happens for a reason. I would always get told that I look like a model so I eventually started taking pictures and the reaction that I got only reassured me that modeling is something I should invest in. I’ve had over 20 regular jobs or 9 to 5 jobs and I’ve always felt like there was something missing no matter how much I would make. I remember on my first interview I had expressed the desire of wanting to work with other brands and surprisingly i got the chance to have FashionNova contact me wanting to collaborate with me. I’ve had Ford Models like some of my pictures on Instagram and also Kappa like my picture on Instagram. It’s small steps throughout my journey but I’m loving the fact that it’s like glimpses into the future. I don’t like talking about it because I’ve had to accept that not everyone will see the vision.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had a group of friends I grew up with since 7th grade, I once considered them my brothers but that’s no longer my reality. They had got jealous because at the time I was going to Tyler Perry studio as an extra and acting in his show “Sistas.” I also had a fiancée who had proposed to me at the time and to try to summarize everything they cut my left arm. They had got jealous and let their animosity get the best of them. I had to realize that even though I trusted a lot of people I couldn’t trust anyone after that. They had slashed my tires and played a role in me getting locked up again. COVID-19 changed a lot for the worse but I only learned to improvise and improve as an individual. Being alone and not having anyone by my side to help me only made me stronger and thought me the ability to bounce back from anything.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I used to get called skinny all the time growing up so I started taking pictures of myself shirtless trying to track the progress over time. As time went by, I noticed that the girls had already liked the way I look and overtime it just helped me gain more confidence in the way I look. Now I get asked why I don’t wear shirts and my initial response is “I hate wearing shirts.”
