Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Merry Huerta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Merry thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
When I started MH Rentals, I was in a place in life where I was just tired of waiting on “perfect timing.” I had worked hard, helped others build their dreams, and finally decided it was time to build my own. I wanted something that gave people reliable, clean, and affordable vehicles while creating something I could be proud of right here in my community.
Looking back, part of me wishes I had started sooner. I had the drive and ideas long before I officially got MH Rentals going. Starting earlier would’ve meant more time to grow, learn, and build my name even stronger in Valdosta.
But at the same time, I truly believe everything happens when it’s meant to. By the time I started MH Rentals, I had gained experience, patience, and confidence to handle the business side of things — and to treat every customer the way I’d want to be treated.
So no, I don’t regret the timing. I might have started sooner if I knew then what I know now, but honestly… the timing was right. MH Rentals came to life when I was ready — and it’s only the beginning.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
MH Rentals is a family-owned car rental business proudly run by siblings Merry and Héctor, right here in Valdosta, Georgia. We started MH Rentals because we saw how hard it can be for people to find clean, affordable, and reliable cars without all the hidden fees or complications.
We take pride in offering vehicles that are well-maintained, great on gas, and ready when you need them — whether it’s for work, travel, or everyday use. What truly sets us apart is our personal touch — every renter gets treated like family, with honest communication and flexible service.
At MH Rentals, we’re proud to be part of our community, helping people get where they need to go safely and stress-free. Reliable cars, fair prices, and genuine customer care — that’s what MH Rentals is all about.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was thinking that I had to do everything on my own for it to be done right. When my brother Héctor and I started MH Rentals, I felt like I had to handle every detail myself — the cleaning, the bookings, the messages, the marketing — everything. I was scared that if I let go of control, something might go wrong.
But over time, I realized that trusting others and working as a team doesn’t weaken your business — it strengthens it. Learning to delegate, accept help, and share responsibilities with Héctor made things smoother and less stressful. It also reminded me that running a business isn’t about doing it all yourself; it’s about building something together that lasts.
Unlearning that “do-it-all” mindset helped me grow not only as a business owner but also as a person. Now, I focus on balance, teamwork, and trusting the process — and it’s made all the difference.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When we started MH Rentals, we didn’t have a marketing budget or a big following — just determination and word of mouth. At first, it was just posting photos of our cars, sharing updates, and thanking every single customer who supported us. I made sure to keep it real and personal, showing the people behind the business — me and my brother Héctor.
Over time, people started noticing that we weren’t just renting cars — we were building trust. We shared honest posts, five-star reviews, and moments from our day-to-day work. I learned that being consistent and genuine on social media goes further than trying to sound “perfect.” People connect with authenticity.
My advice to anyone just starting out is simple: be yourself, be consistent, and stay connected. Don’t worry about having professional photos or fancy ads at first. Just show up, talk to your audience like family, post your progress, your wins, even your learning moments. Every post is a chance for someone new to discover you and your story.
Social media has helped us grow MH Rentals beyond what we imagined — not because we tried to be the biggest, but because we stayed real and reliable.
