We were lucky to catch up with Mericle Hall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mericle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Growing up, people would ask me all the time “Do you model?” or suggest that I model as a hobby and I would always ignore it or get annoyed because that was not my interest at the time. I played sports and thats all I knew. Sometimes I wish I would’ve started earlier when those people suggested because there’s no telling where’d I be right now. However, life is all about lessons and experiences. I truly believe I am where I’m suppose to be and I do not regret starting when I started. I’ve accomplished more than a lot!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Mericle Hall but I go by “MBRIthemuse.” I am a graduating senior at The Illustrious Clark Atlanta University pursuing a BA in Fashion Design & Merchandising. Outside of school I am a model, creative, director, and wardrobe stylist. I also work in production and film as a PA, and I do social media branding and marketing. All of these things coincide with each other throughout the industry there’s literally nothing I do not do. MODELING IS MY MAIN THING THOUGH! I EAT SLEEP & BREATHE MODELING. If I am not in class, I am at someone’s studio, on someone’s set, infront of someone’s camera putting in work! The other services I provide are a plus! That’s what sets me apart from any other model you may come across. I literally woke up one day and said I was gonna try modeling. Growing up I played basketball, volleyball, and I ran track. All I knew was sports. People would always ask “Do you model?” or always suggest modeling to me as a hobby. I was never interested. Once I started college I started to branch off into personal styling and creative direction for others and that carried into photoshoots for myself. From there I began to build a portfolio, and found out that modeling was what I was missing in my life. Another reason I began modeling was because one of my best friends Britney L. Allgood, was getting into modeling after high school before her passing. So, for not only myself, but for her as well.
The goal for myself and career is to be the next big thing for the modeling industry. I’m a humble woman who is very dedicated, motivated, and persistent to her craft. I see myself making millions from modeling. I’m changing the game!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As stated previously “The goal for myself and career is to be the next big thing for the modeling industry. I’m a humble woman who is very dedicated, motivated, and persistent to her craft. I see myself making millions from modeling. I’m changing the game!” I really want to be able to take care of my family NOT THAT THEY NEED IT but just to be able to take care of them as they did for me.
I have to make it in this industry. I will make it in this industry. Starting something and never finishing NEVER sat right with me.
Lastly, a really big thing that is driving this creative journey, are my supporters. I get messages all the time about how I inspire someone, or people asking for advice, saying they look up to me, etc. It not only amazes me but it’s reassurance that I’m impacting someone and they’re counting on me as well. Encouraging words from people and someone expressing to me that I am an inspiration pushes me to go harder every time. So let me take this time to actually thank my supporters and let them know how much they are appreciated.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me is knowing I have inspired someone to either model or take on any type of creative service. Also knowing that I’ve left a positive impact or impression on someone they could never forget.
