Meriah, appreciate you joining us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
When it comes to the support of family and friends i honestly feel once you see what i have going on and I’ve made you knowledgeable to what im involved in im not chasing anyone to support or promote my business that would just be a disappointment to myself. You would think when you start a business of some sort your friends an family would be your biggest supporters but in some cases ive learned that isn’t true not everyone wants to see you successful they’ll be willing to pay designer’s they dont know personally top prices but want discounts off yours that’s just not true support to me so i brand differently and interact with a different crowd I’ve become my legacy and stepped out the generational curses of depending on loved ones.

My name is Meriah Cummings im a mother of two beautiful little girls,A Beautician,Event Planner,Entrepreneur who enjoys a little of this and that i started off simply redecorating my room as a child in my mothers apartment weekly just because i never liked to look at things the same way for to long, i know sounds crazy. As i grew into an adult i watched my mothers creative side she was always making something new rather it was the sewing machine and fabric or a sketchpad to decorating family events and functions so helping her as a child gave me the passion for it an as i became more of an adult i started to do my own gigs an the reaction of the customers,family or friends is what left me feeling great to stand back at an event venue as i say yes i did that so i just continued in the process began to make diaper cakes,diaper wreaths, decorationg birthday parties an babyshowers adult nights etc. In 2020 i began UniQue SisTarZ LLC with my daughters Ja’riah and Majesty whom are 12 and 6yrs of age which was based on 3d mink lashes, silk lashes, self defense keychains, custom clothing an decor where i also bleach wigs, make custom wigs, install wigs, braid kids natural styles, Lemonade braids, Box Braids etc for the future whats wanted for this family business will be a continuous success pathway.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My social media audience come from all differnt platforms im very diverse for me its not about one crowd seeing my business information or learning about Unique Sistarz on music platforms on different social platforms i promoted my kids went to school around the neighborhood promoted you have to be your brand itself and be the image you want for your business so to new comers let me say this there will be days you feel discouraged but push through the ending is worth it never give up your dreams to keep making someone else’s better.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategies for growing my clientele i would say posting content on TikTok,LinkedIn,MusicLinkUp, Youtube etc has helped alot and lets not forget Instagram.
