We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meredith Whitney. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meredith below.
Meredith, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
I once had a client that called me and needed help locating her cat who had gone missing the day before. I tuned into the cat and asked if he wanted to be found and he said yes. The next question I asked him was whether he could find his way home. He said he would need help finding his way home. So I did some remote viewing and also looked on Google Maps and figured out where he was and guided him back home. The client called me later that day to tell me that her cat had come home.

Meredith, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an international animal communicator, psychic, medium, Reiki healer, teacher, public speaker, and writer.
I grew up in Southern California and have always been an animal lover. I have had several dogs, a bird, a cat, and a few horses growing up. I was an avid equestrian from the age of 11 years old. I rode at a hunter-jumper show barn and competed in many horse shows as a teen. After my teenage years, I was a groom on the horse show circuit for a while until I decided to go back to college for graphic design.
As a child, animals were my confidants, my best friends. Even though I was psychic and communicated with animals as a child, as I grew into adulthood, I shut my abilities off. In 2003, I rediscovered my ability to communicate with animals and spirits when I owned a petsitting and dog-walking business. Being able to communicate with animals and spirits is important to me because they have helped me heal throughout my life.
I offer animal communication sessions, psychic readings, and medium readings via phone/Zoom or in person at your home or barn. Your readers can schedule a session through my website at www.meredithwhitney.com/book-a-session
My ability creates a deeper and more respectful understanding between people and their animal companions. The animals need a voice and I am that voice for them. I can make a difference in your life and in your pet’s life.
I connect with animals that have crossed over into spirit and I also communicate with the spirits of our human loved ones who have passed on.
Some of the benefits of animal communication are :
• It creates a stronger heart-bond and a deeper understanding of your animal’s feelings and behaviors.
• It creates harmony in your home by resolving relationship issues between different pets in your family.
• It lets your animal companion know when you will be away from home or other changes coming up.
• It helps you know when your animal companion is in pain and where the pain is.
• It helps you find closure and take comfort by connecting with those who have crossed over into Spirit.
What is Animal Communication?
Animal communication is the exchange of thoughts, pictures, feelings and words between an animal and a person. It is telepathic which means it is done by using our “sixth sense” or intuitive ability. The animal communicator serves as a translator between you and your animal companion. I read the animals’ energy and interpret it into words so that you can understand your animals’ emotions, physical feelings and thoughts. I can also conduct a bodyscan. This is an energetic connection with your animal that provides physical information such as pain that can help you when you go to the veterinarian, but it is not a substitute. This ability is also referred to as being empathic.
Other terms sometimes used for this same work include Inter-species Communicator, Inter-Species Cognitive Awareness Specialist, Animal Psychic, Pet Psychic, Telepathic Animal Communicator, and Animal Intuitive.
I am most proud that I never gave up on myself or my business when life got hard.
To be a great animal communicator, you have to have compassion, an open heart and an open mind, be empathic and be genuine and authentic. I love my job because it brings me joy in helping people and their animals.
Sidenote: Animal communication does not replace veterinary care or good training.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
It has been a bumpy road since I stepped out of the Spiritual Closet in 2003. For the next three years, I would be going on a journey learning all that I could about psychic mediumship development and animal communication and how I was growing as a person working on issues that I had. I learned very quickly during this time that not everyone believed in animal communication, psychic, or mediumship abilities. I lost some friends and family members when I told them what was happening to me. I was told by my then-husband that I had to go see a psychiatrist and get on medication because I was seeing visions on the wall, seeing visions in my head, hearing voices of animals and spirits in my head, seeing people and animals that had died, and I was feeling other people’s and animal’s emotions and physical pain. I was even told that I wasn’t psychic by some family members. I also had depression and anxiety during this time because I wasn’t happy with myself or my marriage. I was in an abusive marriage and I needed to get out. In 2006, I asked my then-husband for a divorce because I was headed down a different path than he was and I was embracing who I was becoming, someone who loved helping people and their animals and someone who saw and talked with spirits. I turned professional in 2007 after my divorce was final and started charging for the services that I offered. I built a website, ordered business cards, and started to get the word out. It hasn’t been easy building my business and getting clients in the past. I have had to work hard at growing my business and growing as a human being, whether it be on social media, print marketing, being a vendor at psychic fairs, teaching classes, or sharing my story so that it might help that one person out there who may have been where I was and needed to see that you can make it out of a bad situation and come out the other side and be okay. I was homeless for a year during the pandemic in 2020 living in my mini SUV or in hotel rooms with my cat, Oreo. I had clients during this time, but not enough to get a room to rent. I kept applying for full-time jobs hoping that I would get an interview and eventually get hired. I had to get on general relief, food stamps, and MediCal. I kept hearing my Spirit team and my grandmothers tell me that I was going to be okay. After a year of looking, I finally found a job at a local mental health hospital in the business office. After that, I was able to save enough money to find a more stable place to live by renting a room from someone near my new job. I continued working my day job and working my business doing readings for clients and teaching animal communication classes for the next three years.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being honest with clients. I am the messenger, I don’t filter the messages that come through with the animals or spirits.
