We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meredith Margolis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Meredith, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I am a real estate agent who co-runs a top team at Compass Real Estate, called Your P&rtners. It took my business partners some time to craft this name- YOUR P&rtners. We knew from the inception of our team that we did not want to bring ego into it and name it after one of ourselves. We knew our hard work and support for our clients came first and eventually YOUR P&rtners was born. We are our clients’ partners- every step of the way. We hold their process together, physically, emotionally , supporting our clients” process. Buying and selling real estate is a heavy lift, filled with up and downs and our team wants to make sure our clients’ succeed and give them the ability to move forward, whatever “moving forward” looks like.
Meredith, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been selling residential real estate for 15 years. I affiliated my license with a regional brokerage exactly 17 years ago- the day before i gave birth to my son. Then,I had my daughter, and eventually left my marketing position at a DC law firm to pursue residential real estate full time. Within 2 years, I joined a team and realized the importance of a team- sharing expenses, marketing ideas and supporting each other. Eventually, we approached to be the founding members of this NY Based brokerage that promised helpful technology and high touch services. We soon joined Compass in its first 6 months of coming to DC. Compass is now the #1 Brokerage nationally while also being the #1 Brokerage in the DMV. Our team is the #2 team at Compass for 2023. What you need to know about me is that I am hyper organized with high level executive functioning skills. I am wildly disciplined, walking 5 plus miles and practicing yoga daily. My family comes first, and my real estate practice has supported my family’s needs.always. Because of my schedule, I am able to attend field trips during the week and schedule weekend sporting events etc around my client’s schedules. I am really proud of my personal partner- my husband- who supports this schedule and is the major reason for my sucess.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My greatest source is personal referrals- 95% of our team’s business comes from other client referrals. Within that referral source, my largest group of client referrals came from my son’s school. I was active with the school because I wanted to support his school, and without intent, I wound up working with the majority of parents in his grade. I experience great satisfaction from this that this wonderful group of people recognized that I brought value to an exciting and difficult process.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I answer every call, text, and email quickly. i think my quick AND thoughtful response time sets me apart from others. I am honest and transparent from the beginning to the conclusion of the process. I try to support my fellow agents in multiple ways because it feels right, even if we sometimes compete with one another.
