We were lucky to catch up with Mercy Daharlemkid recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mercy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to pursue rap professionally the moment I realized my people believed in me the same way I believed in myself. That belief pushed me to build my own target market and brand—something authentic to Harlem, authentic to me, and built for those who move with me

Mercy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Mercydaharlemkid, born and raised in Harlem. Where I come from, music isn’t just entertainment—it’s survival, expression, and history. I got into rap because it was the realest way I could tell my story and the story of my people. At first, it was just me believing in myself, but when I realized others believed in me the same way, that’s when I knew I had to take it seriously and build something bigger than just myself.
What I provide isn’t just songs—it’s culture, energy, and a voice that reflects Harlem’s truth. My creative work speaks to the ones who come from the struggle but still push forward with ambition. The “problem” I solve is giving people something authentic to connect to in a time when a lot of music feels watered down or built for quick clout.
What sets me apart is that I’m not chasing a lane—I’m creating my own. I built my own target market and brand from the ground up, rooted in Harlem, but meant for anyone who respects authenticity and hustle. My sound, my visuals, my brand—everything is true to where I come from.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Support is free but trash music is trash music .. Speak the truth and artist can Learn where they fall short. This life isn’t for everyone.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to tell my story. Mercydaharlemkid isn’t just an artist and brand, it’s a heartbeat. A tribute to the streets that raised us, the culture that shaped us, and the energy that never dies.
