Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Merci Chrisette . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Merci, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

Well, to be completely honest, I started M.V.M beauty during Covid in quarantine. I remember being quarantined for at least 2 1/2 years in New York City and during the second year I decided to do much research in regards to starting a makeup company. I did research for almost an entire year before registering my LLC, and actually starting the business. We officially launched March 31, 2020 and have been doing spectacular ever since with huge gratitude to our loyal supporters.

Merci, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Merci and I am the founder of M.V.M beauty. We are a makeup company who distributes products, such as eyeshadow, lipgloss, lashes, and more to enthusiasts that love the power of beauty. I started out as a model in NYC walking in shows for fashion week, which was amazing but overtime I decided to step behind the scenes in which I started a career in makeup art. I would see how happy makeup would make others after their glam, and how empowering it was for them. It made me want to create some thing that can give others that same feeling of joy and inner strength.

How did you build your audience on social media?

We built our presence on social media by just staying true to what we represent as a brand. We cater to those individuals who are fun, but also a little edgy. Not afraid to take risks when it comes to makeup, but also having a balance of neutral because it is an art so we like to portray that on our social media. Creativity is always appreciated, and most important individuality. Your tribe will find you!!

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

Yes, we are on Etsy and working on partnering with other market places in the near future. Partnering with other markets is a huge pro for us because it extends reach to those who may be searching for something new to try and/or buy. As for cons…none for us as of yet.
