We were lucky to catch up with Mercedes Pascual recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mercedes , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Shortly after finishing my training and receiving my certification, I got an email from an event planning company based in Paris asking for a quote to lead a floral workshop for 40 people. My first thought was… 40? Impossible!
Their client was a French brand about to launch a new fragrance. The launch was to take place on the island of Mallorca, Spain, in a beutiffull palace at the north of the island. They wanted to offer their guests a floral workshop, as the essence of the fragrance was based on flowers.
The presentation of the fragrance would be attended by some of the most prestigious fashion magazines in France—like Elle and Vogue—as well as the most influential French influencers of these moment.
It was an incredible joy and a truly beautiful experience to create this floral workshop for L’Oréal Paris, for their Roger & Gallet line. During the workshop, the guests were able to create their own natural floral accessories such as flower crowns, bracelets, boutonnieres, and headbands.
It was deeply rewarding to hear that the brand was thrilled with my services. For me, it was a magnificent experience—a true turning point in my professional career—because it gave me an enormous sense of confidence in my abilities.
This experience probably taught me that we should generally trust ourselves more. Dare to step outside our comfort zone… (even if it makes us dizzy) because it is the most organic and fastest way to grow as a professional. And that’s where the magic happens.

Mercedes , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Mercedes Pascual, and I’m a floral designer specializing in weddings and events in Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. I’m also an officially certified artisan florist, accredited by the Consell Insular de Mallorca.
I found my way into the world of flowers almost by chance. Around eight years ago, I was working on children’s event decor—birthdays, baptisms, baby showers, first communions—and I began to realize just how essential flowers were in creating atmosphere. At the end of that season, I decided to travel to Barcelona for a four-day intensive floral design course. I didn’t have big ambitions—just the desire to learn a bit, to bring more intention and skill to the floral touches in my events.
But I loved the experience so much that I went on to pursue a much deeper, more professional and certified floral education. That decision marked the beginning of a new path.
Today, through my brand Exquisitae, I offer three main lines of services:
Floral design for weddings and private or corporate events, especially for international couples who choose Mallorca as their wedding destination. They’re usually looking for a refined, natural, and authentic aesthetic, along with a warm, professional and detail-oriented approach.
Custom floral accessories, made with fresh or preserved flowers. These include bridal bouquets, flower crowns, headpieces, and combs—unique pieces for brides, guests, bridesmaids, or for brand/editorial shoots.
Floral design education: I offer both professional courses and creative workshops for people who want to explore this craft—whether they’re aspiring florists, creatives looking for a new form of expression, or individuals drawn to the therapeutic power of working with flowers.
Our flowers are there to celebrate happiness. My goal is always to create a floral experience that feels deeply personal—a reflection of each couple’s essence.
Mallorca is home to many talented professionals in this field, and I believe different styles suit different clients. What sets me apart is a blend of aesthetic sensitivity, a very personal design language, deep listening, and complete commitment.
Even the simplest project, I approach as a small piece of ephemeral art.
I invest myself fully—with honesty, intuition, and a deep passion for what I do.
I’m especially proud of having worked with international brands, but I feel just as honored when I receive a heartfelt thank-you note from a bride. That emotional connection is what fuels me.
Exquisitae is a project with soul. I don’t do mass-produced florals. My goal is to create flowers with a story. I also don’t take on huge installations or weddings with over 100 guests—because I believe in setting clear limits to protect the quality, care, and creative attention I want to give every client.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I saved up the capital first by working from home, and when I could, I rented a small space as a work shop to work on my weddings. I made the investment little by little, reinvesting almost all of my profits in new equipment, decorations, and continuing education each year during the first few years. I continuously invest in my education by attending online and in-person courses every year.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
At the beginning of my venture, I decided to collaborate extensively with European photographers, which proved to be a wonderful way to make myself known among their followers and clients, as they tagged me when they posted photos of my work, which is always positive.
-Having an attractive, well-designed, and carefully maintained website has been very important. I take great care of my website because I consider it my home and a showcase to the world. I update photos every year and invest in SEO.-Taking care of the Google business page has been essential.
-I used to love Instagram, but now I don’t like it as much because of the endless time it takes to get just a little attention… but I recognize that I have to be there and that it’s a very important source not only for getting new customers but also for creating a brand.
