We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meneftha Pierre. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meneftha below.
Meneftha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Before I started my business officially, people I worked with would say how I helped them grow their businesses, move projects forward, increase efficiency, and ultimately take it to the next level. Knowing that I had built a track record of proven success in my career, one day it came to me. I came up with the name of my company from a play on the words next level. I wanted the name to be creative but also reflective of what I wanted to help my clients do, which was level up! I put a spin on next by using my nickname, and that is how Neff Level was birth! I then added planning and events to highlight my business expertise. Once I got over the fear of actually starting my business picking the name was easy and Neff Level Planning and Events came to life.
Meneftha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Some things I would like readers to know about me are that I am a first generation Haitian-American born in West Palm Beach, Florida. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2015 with my Bachelors of Arts in Communications. I later went on to graduate with Masters of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University in 2018. I have several years of varying experiences at the collegiate, non-profit, and professional level. I officially started my business in April 2021 and will celebrate two years in business this upcoming April. Neff Level Planning & Events specializes in Business Development, Event Planning, and Project Management. My goal is to help my clients take it to the next level by bringing their vision to life through planning and execution!
Most recently, in 2022, I earned the golden standard in the Project Management world by obtaining my PMP from the Project Management Institute. This was a huge accomplishment for me having failed the exam the first time. I am passionate about helping others grow and this will allow me to continue doing so with a new level of expertise.
Today, I am most proud of the relationships I have built with my clients and the success they have achieved with my help and guidance. I have been able to work with start ups, non-profits, business consultants, life coaches, and other entrepreneurs, all in different industries on their pursuit of more. I look forward to gaining new experiences and moving with intent this year in my business while taking it to the next level!
In addition to my own business, I have teamed up with some amazing individuals as a partner for Social House WPB, where we provide an intimate space to curate special events in downtown West Palm Beach. The space can hosts brunches, sip & paints, birthday parties, photoshoots, and other intimate gatherings. We are excited to create a dynamic environment for the city we all grew up in. Let’s get social!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Most recently, I announced that I would no longer offer wedding planning/coordination services. Although I was excited and eager to enter the wedding industry space, my goal this year is to be more intentional in my business. That led me to my decision to pivot away from weddings in my business. I have planned and worked many different types of events and even though my 2.5 years in the wedding space was short-lived, I much rather enjoy weddings from the guest point of view.
My business is still new and I know being able to pivot is important in life and business. As I am working to refine a lot of things in my business, this was one of them. Since I want to be more intentional about the work I do, I think it’s critical to be reminded just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you have to. This reminder allowed me to feel comfortable and confident in my decision. I plan to operate in the high skill, high passion zone this year and for years to come!
In the words of Cheryl Amy: “Don’t Panic, Pivot!”
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed reading! I remember my mom taking my sister and I to the library on the weekends when we were younger and it will always be one of my favorite childhood memories. As someone who enjoys reading for fun in my leisure time, and to learn I am happy to share some books that have significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy.
1. Atomic Habits – James Clear
2. More Than Enough – Elaine Welteroth
3. Vibrate Higher Daily – Lalah Delia
4. Today Matters – John C. Maxwell
5. Essentialism – Greg McKeown
6. 9 Rules of Engagement – Harris Faulkner
7. The Energy Bus- Jon Gordon
8. The Advantage – Patrick Lencioni
9. The Body Keeps Score – Bessel A, Van Der Kolk
10. Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office – Dr. Lois Frankel
The topics of these books range from leadership, personal/professional development, empowerment, discipline, health/wellness and so much more. They have helped me grow into a holistic leader and person as a whole.
