We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mena Monroe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Well I always had a passion for the entertainment arts. I did plays & hosted my own talk show in high school that streamed on our local cable network. After getting into a few indie movies my entrepreneur in me simply followed the money & now I have my own film production company “Mena Monroe Studios”, and provide a dope living for myself & a few others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I initially started off as a video model & was asked to do a small role in a film by a previous video director who also made his transition to film. I now have one of the most recognizable faces & brands on Tubi a online streaming platform that provides filmmakers like myself a great avenue to distribute our work. & a great fan base who affectionately call me Miss Tubi.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As a female filmmaker I’ve probably heard far more no’s than yes’s & that literally just erupts a bigger passion inside of me to prove these folks wrong. I’m also faced with many opposing filmmakers who have this imaginary competition with my brand, when in realization there’s a big enough market for each & everyone of else. So I resiliently welcome all competition.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Oh my god my original career path was corporate but I’m not ashamed to say that my college career was a complete waste of money. Considering I got into some trouble after graduating that inhibited me from using my degree due to receiving a felony. I couldn’t get a job to save my life even with the degrees. I then had to sit down and come up with a plan to not only provide for myself but thrive. And entrepreneurship was that path. I’m thankful for every hiccup & tough life lesson because it help lead me to my passion.
