We recently connected with MEME and have shared our conversation below.
MEME , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
In my life everything I’ve accomplished has been built from the momentum of the risks I’ve taken. Graffiti is illegal and you can only make a name for yourself by consistently breaking the law over a long period of time. I had been painting like this since 1999 and for the love of it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I created Few and Far Women because I felt there was a lack of sisterhoods in skateboarding and graffiti that already existed with men in those cultures.
What started from a one time project blossomed into the largest international all women’s art, graffiti and skateboard organization in the world and now inspires future generations to follow their goals.
I’m especially proud of what we have accomplished as we approach our 12th anniversary this year.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Ursula X. Young is our Co-director and partner running Few & Far and doing behind-the-scenes work. I met Ursula in my home town of Nevada city California 10 years ago. I was showing her some photographs of my amateur photography at an art show and we started talking. We hit it off and it has felt like Yin and Yang with our chemistry working well together to run the nonprofit collaboratively.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I come from a very rough upbringing. However, I always believed in myself and that I would do something great in my life.
I was forced to drop out of school at a young age, and was responsible for helping provide for my family members. I’m also severely dyslexic and couldn’t read or count until I was 11 years old. I pushed through even while people doubted me my whole life and I stayed driven to push forward with my dreams and ambitions.
I have definitely accomplished more than I ever set out to do.I now set my goals even higher as I move in new directions with my art, constantly growing and expanding.
I would like to continue my path towards kindness, love, and empathy and showing other poor youth that they can make it too!
