We recently connected with MeMe and have shared our conversation below.
MeMe, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I believe I’ve always known that this was going to be my path. From the first time I was handed a microphone. I was 4 years old. For some reason, microphones always found a way to be handed to me ever since. I was never shy once I got on stage or in front of crowds. It felt like and still feels like home.
MeMe, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a blogger turned media personality. I got started in 2014 writing blog post. In 2018, I decided to turn my camera on and started interviewing people of interest. People in the music industry, fashion, and the arts. I‘ve hosted events, covered concerts, and I host a weekly show on Instagram called the IG live vibe. Doing these things allowed me to channel my creativity into a clothing line. Love Me by MeMeTalks Apparel. All of these things have come with more than enough challenges, but I’m the most proud of my tenacity and my willingness to keep going no matter what the obstacles are.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the lives you get to touch. Creativity is expression. People are able to see your heart and your mind through it.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience based on authenticity. It sounds cliche but it’s the only way lol. I started doing comedy skits with a good friend of mine, Trabass TV and that helped my audience grow tremendously. I continued with skits, reels, and posting genuine content such as my interviews. My audience is continuously growing. My advice would be to stay consistent, even if you’re only getting a few likes here and there. Post frequently! Also, connect with other like-minds, it’s cool to build with people doing the same thing. Don’t view them as competition.
