We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melynda Miles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melynda below.
Melynda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy will bring glory to my creator for being an intentional advocate for my community. It’s been six years since I started Modern Manuscripts LLC and his mercy is humbly appreciated, because it’s always been about doing HIS work for me. I pray that he continues to use me to help others discover their many gifts and talents. It’s nothing like experiencing someone in their true element! Hence, we’re all working to become our best selves. Life allows multiple edits and we should continue growth and development ruthlessly. Modern Manuscripts is symbolic for this inescapable transition. I’ve had the pleasure of helping my clients through very important stages in their life whether it be applying for a job, marketing a business, or notarizing documents that seal their family’s legacy. I want my business to be an establishment that my clients can trust to get the job done instead of settling for businesses that have been tried and true for “taking the money and running.” My purpose to advocate overrides my desire for revenue. Revenue flows with pure intentions and best business practices. I acknowledge the success of my client’s in advance and use the power of words to create valuable and sustainable relationships, as well as partnerships. My legacy entails extraordinary customer service by providing unmatched attention to detail, understanding, and quality products and services.
Melynda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I always tell people that I’m an unapologetic nerd! They laugh, but I have honestly been a bookworm all of my life. I developed the love of writing from my mother Dr. Miles at the age of seven. To this day, she has my old short stories and poems that I’ve written as an adolescent stored in a notebook. Thankfully, my daughter has inherited the same love for reading and writing. I started my business initially as a professional resume service and subsequently branched out to academic editing and writing because I know the struggle is real for college students amateurs and veterans alike! The response I received was paramount! Most of my clients have been referrals, due to the feedback I’ve received from the services provided. I am very personable with my clients and always ensure their best interest. It makes collaboration much easier when you allow customers to be precise and open with their requests. This act of service sets my apart from my competitors. I want my future clients to know that my customer service is parallel to the creative works I’ve been able to provide. Modern Manuscripts LLC is notorious for resume make overs, but now offers quality t-shirt printing, custom vinyl designs, and home decor!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a writer is watching your content become live. Writing and reading is one of the oldest forms of communication tools that will remain modern regardless of the advancements in technology. Bringing the ideas of my customers to life is the main goal I have at every consultation. The end product is always a celebration! The smiles are a sure sign of satisfaction and encourages me to do more for the next in line.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media presence by creating a business page on all popular platforms including Facebook and Instagram. I’m naturally an introvert so this was a challenge for me and my comfort zone. Yet, I had to step out of my shell and be confident in the material I presented. Overtime, I became more comfortable with my social media presence and the products and services I had to offer. You have to believe in yourself if noone else does! Ironically, I received great responses from bystanders, not friends. It doesn’t cost to share a post or send a referral. Most of my advertisement is accomplished through word of mouth. I would advise new entrepreneurs to be confident in what they are selling. Be accurate and know trade mark laws. Be authentic and original. Most importantly BE YOU!
