Hi Melvin , thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?

My hero is my late father, Melvin Edmonds Sr. The world may know the name, Melvin Edmonds from After 7, Milestone, or simply being Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds brother. To me and my siblings, that’s our father. My dad was a lyrical genius. His voice was like no other. From vocals, to song writing, to his style my dad was the man! He’s taught me everything I know about the music and business industry. Besides my father, my uncle Kenny also plays an important role in why I started my own company, Edmonds Music Inc.

My name is Melvin Edmonds Jr. I’m a singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur. CEO/Founder of Edmonds Music Inc. (Independent record label, artist management) Coming from a musical background, my family has always been in the entertainment industry. It’s a blessing that I can carry on the family lifestyle, tradition and legacy with my last name. What sets my company apart from other labels is.. you’re working on your own terms and at your own pace. I primarily assist artist with development and growth: With my independent label, I have mainstream knowledge and connections. Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

Before I started my company Edmonds Music Inc, I married my best friend, the love of my life… Briana Zalamar-Edmonds. She’s always been supportive of my dreams, believed in my vision and shared the same interest as me. I knew she was the one when I met her. We both come from musical backgrounds, her being the granddaughter of the legendary James Brown to myself holding the “Edmonds” legacy. We both came together and became one. She needed me just as much as I needed her. Not only do we share a beautiful marriage, legendary backgrounds, we share multiple businesses, property and assets. Briana, is the CEO/Founder of Ebony Lifestyle Magazine and Cofounder/Entertainment Executive of Edmonds Music Inc.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

My last name speaks volume. I’m an Edmonds. Edmonds means business.
